This in dangerous....for me....it's sushi....less than a mile away from my home....really good sushi, really close..... My mother and I were driving to my grandmother house, that's just down the hill from Mindy's, when we noticed the "Grand Opening" sign. So my mother stopped and grabbed a menu. When we sat down at my grandmothers, we looked over the menu and decided to order dinner from Mindy's.
Now, I ordered 2 Special Fusion Rolls (Portsmouth Roll & Hamachi Jalapeño Roll) and 1 Classic Roll (Spicy Salmon). Normally, at a sushi place I'd get 1 Fusion Roll and 2 Classic Rolls. That's because 1. I couldn't pick between those 2 Fusion Rolls and 2. Normally around here, the rolls are really small (even the fusion ones) and especially small when you get takeout. What I immediately noticed when I opened up our order, was the rolls are a good size roll! Like, I probably only need 1 or 2 rolls depending on how hungry I am (Did that stop me from stuffing myself with sushi tonight? No.). And the presentation. Since Covid happened, any food we get out, is takeout. Which means sushi too. Everytime I've gotten sushi takeout, the presentation is really "eh, it works.". Most the places I used to go to sit down, do really good sit down sushi presentation. But, when you order takeout, you might as well have gone to the grocery store for your presentation. Mindy's did a really nice takeout presentation. A little bigger platter box(?) Where the sushi could stand up nicely, have a little room and get a good amount of Wasabi and pickled ginger with it.
The food itself was very good! Tasted great! My mother got the fish and chips (she doesn't like sushi), and she says that was very good as well. The piece of fish was a very nice sized piece of fish too! The menu is also wonderful, vast with A LOT of different options!
We will definitely be going back! As of now, I am VERY...
Read moreThe good: order online process was easy and the food was ready in the time frame I requested. The General Taos chicken was pretty tasty and had a nice kick to it. The restaurant seemed super cute inside and everyone I came in contact with was friendly.
The bad: the hostess only gave me one of my bags of food, luckily I checked my order when I got in the car and was able to just walk back in as opposed to having to drive all the way back to get the second (which held a majority of my order). The fried rice was way too salty, although my husband would probably disagree with me on this. The crab Rangoon was disappointing and only tasted like cream cheese and scallion, I didn’t see or taste a single hint of crab in it. I ordered the spicy seafood salad and I’m pretty sure I got the kani salad instead because there was no spice, no octopus, no shrimp, and no avocado in it… the rainbow roll was okay except the fish selection on top of the roll was really mushy and had no flavor. Also, a super minor thing but worth noting, I requested extra wasabi in the special notes section and...
Read moreOne of my entrees was not included with my delivery, via UberEATS. When I called the establishment directly, the person who answered the phone was not sure how to handle the issue. Instead of putting me on hold, to inquire with management/ownership, he proceeded to shout out the issue to "Mindy", who stated what does she want me to do...refund? I replied no, that I want the item which I ordered delivered. I was told that was not possible, since they dont have a delivery driver. I responded that i would come pick up the item (reluctantly), if I was reimbursed. This information was shouted out to the owner, who agreed. When i arrived to pick up the item, I was informed, by a rude server, that they could not reimburse me, and that I needed to request such, through UberEATS. When I asked to speak with management/ownership, I was told that she was busy cooking. This type of customer service is completely unacceptable. My family, friends and I give this establishment frequent business. I will share this experience with the...
