I visited after seeing advertisements, as I always like trying new (or newly discovered) pizza places. This small restaurant is nestled in the residential Port Norfolk of Portsmouth. There is street parking available which is expected in this area. The restaurant itself appeared clean and its eclectic design gave a hometown, home cooking, neighborhood feel. The lady who served us was friendly, helpful, attentive, and professional. Our order was delivered quickly. Service was an A+! We order a breakfast pizza, a 12 inch pepperoni pizza, and garlic breadsticks. The breakfast pizza was a nice surprise. The crust was crispy and the cheese and bacon (no pizza sauce) gave a wonderful crossover of a breakfast sandwich and a pizza. The garlic breadsticks were average. They were good, but they were nothing that made them extraordinary. Unfortunately, I felt the pizza itself fell short. The crust was a little bland and didn’t have the thick, crispy thin, or brick oven style taste or texture. I know all taste is subjective, but I felt the pizza fell short. It seemed like a cafeteria style pizza than a restaurant pizza. The service was outstanding, and the breakfast pizza was a nice surprise, but I have given three starts because the pizza wasn’t that good, and when pizza is in the name of the restaurant it needs to be good.

Heard good things about Pizza Box and finally made it in to try it. I've been getting pretty disappointed lately with the pizza choices near me and really wanted some good pizza. So glad my wife thought about this place! Very nice atmosphere. Quaint little shop with a sort of Navy theme, as the owners are active duty Navy. Met Andora, the co-owner with her husband, on our visit. She's was really nice and made us feel right at home. We split a large meat lovers and it was so much better than other pizzas we've had lately! The crust was perfect and I refused to give mine to my wife. I usually do, but this was to good to not eat. Loved the sauce and had a perfect amount of cheese. I don't like my pizza overloaded with cheese to the point it becomes a cheese puddle in the middle of the pie. The bacon, pepperoni, sausage and ham were very tasty! Andora was telling us they have specials all the time and to watch their FB page for what's coming up. Can't wait to try more items on their menu!

Where do I begin? Walked in this 2 table establishment and waited for 20 minutes before anybody even acknowledged me. It was a couple eating and a lady conversing while someone was on the phone taking a order but the lady talking was the owner. Smh she didn’t even bother to ask could she help me but soon as the lady got off the phone to help me then she comes over and starting intervening on my order. Then $18 later this is what they bring me. A kids pizza. What a waste of time. If you’re hungry this isn’t the way to go. The competitors all around this business offer pizza, wings, garlic knots and soda for only $5 more. Horrible business. Don’t expect them to remain open much longer! I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this place. EVER!!!!!!! P.S. I don’t even write reviews so that should tell you something. Made it my point to give EVERYONE a fair warning about this weird overpriced food lion in the box pizza!!!

My first time ordering from here. I ordered via phone. I spoke with Kieth. He was extremely pleasant, professional, and VERY patient with me. I didn't have a menu and he recited so many items and styles of pizza. I kept forgetting everything he said and I started making up pizzas that don't even exist lol. But he got me straight and didn't laugh at me lol. So my order experience was perfect. I then arrived early to pick up my order in case I got lost. Very first thing I noticed when I parked was their perfectly edged lawn and clean street. That matters to me. I go inside and noticed an extremely clean store. I always check for bugs, flies and roaches. That matters to me too lol. I also noticed 3 young men keeping busy and working hard. Shout out to them because there's so many lazy young men these days. I paid for pizza and tipped, which I normally don't do for a pickup order, and waited outside until it was done. One of the young men brought the entire order to me. Thanks for that because I probably would have dropped it trying to open door. Now on to my order. 1 large pepperoni, 1 small Alla Vodka, 1 canzone, 2 cannabis. I get home and try a bite of everything except the cannolis. Pepperoni pizza had slightly too much Thyme (i believe) It stole the taste of the pepperoni. But I loved the fresh dough taste. Also tasted like it was cooked on hot stone. So that was really nice too. I'd like to try it again with less seasoning. But I give it a 7 out of 10 for the Hampton Roads area. The Calzone had a little too much Oregano (i believe is what i tasted). But it was cooked perfect and again I love the fresh dough taste. Now on to the Alla Vodka.. OMG it was delicious. (You must like mushrooms) The ingredients was PERFECTLY blended and cooked. I love my red sauce Pizzas. But good gawd this was on point. Only thing I would do different is roll a smaller end crust so it can hold more of that fabulous flavor! This place gets 5 stars for MANY reasons. I will come back when I can afford it lol. FYI, I'm a pretty picky eater. Sorry if I offended you all with the too much seasoning. But I already love you guys. Thanks for being part of this...

Every once in a while, you stumble upon a place that not only exceeds your expectations but also touches your heart with kindness. This was exactly my experience with The Box. Arriving just after closing time, I was ready to turn away, but to my absolute surprise, they welcomed me with open arms and, incredibly, a free pizza.

From the first bite, it was clear that this was no ordinary pizza. The crust was delightfully fluffy, a testament to their handmade dough that had been given just the right amount of time to rise, achieving a perfect balance of airy and crisp. The sauce was robust, with a depth of flavor that can only come from carefully selected ingredients and a recipe that's been honed to perfection. It was the foundation that elevated every other component of the pizza.

But the real standout was the cheese - unique, delicious, and unlike any I've had before. It melted beautifully, with a delightful texture and a taste that complemented the sauce and crust in a way that can only be described as harmonious. Every ingredient spoke of quality and care, from the perfectly cooked base to the last bite.

In a world where the rush to close shop can often overshadow customer service, The Box reminded me of the beauty of generosity and passion for one's craft. This wasn't just the best pizza I've had in a while; it was a reminder of what makes food so special - the love and care that goes into making it.

Thank you, Kurtis, for not just an incredible pizza, but for an experience that I'll remember for a long time. Your commitment to quality, both in your food and in your service, truly sets you apart. I can't wait to come back (a bit earlier next time) and taste more of your...

We went before the new ownership and it was pricey then, but the food was really good. I was cool with the pricing because the food was really good and I'll take a local place over a chain 9/10. Since new ownership, we have been back twice and will not be returning. This morning, I paid $8 for a ham and cheese omelet without sides, then added $4 for a side of hash browns. For a $4 side, I better see half a plate of hash browns. Nope, not even close. The omelet was decent, but for only ham and cheese, it was nothing special, again, ESPECIALLY for the price. We also got biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were huge, dry, and there was barely a drizzle of gravy. I can't even tell you if the gravy was good because the biscuit just absorbed it so much. Our last item was a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. The sausage was burnt. The egg was fried super hard. The cheese was rock hard like the whole thing had been sitting under a warmer (except, it hadn't been, so I don't know how that's even possible). The previous visit was pizza and very similar experience - a lot of ingredients, but flavors that were just meh, all stacked on a ridiculously expensive, bland crust pizza. I'm not sure if people are just committed to a local place, but I do not understand it. With the new ownership, it is WAYYYY overpriced and the food is not even good, let alone great. Update since the owner responded: Yes, my review was written when it switched to "Andora's Pizza Box." If it has changed owners again since then, the food and service may have changed. I stopped paying attention after the "Andora" team took over and have no idea who owns and operates it now. I would love to give a...
