My first time ordering from here. I ordered via phone. I spoke with Kieth. He was extremely pleasant, professional, and VERY patient with me. I didn't have a menu and he recited so many items and styles of pizza. I kept forgetting everything he said and I started making up pizzas that don't even exist lol. But he got me straight and didn't laugh at me lol. So my order experience was perfect. I then arrived early to pick up my order in case I got lost. Very first thing I noticed when I parked was their perfectly edged lawn and clean street. That matters to me. I go inside and noticed an extremely clean store. I always check for bugs, flies and roaches. That matters to me too lol. I also noticed 3 young men keeping busy and working hard. Shout out to them because there's so many lazy young men these days. I paid for pizza and tipped, which I normally don't do for a pickup order, and waited outside until it was done. One of the young men brought the entire order to me. Thanks for that because I probably would have dropped it trying to open door. Now on to my order. 1 large pepperoni, 1 small Alla Vodka, 1 canzone, 2 cannabis. I get home and try a bite of everything except the cannolis. Pepperoni pizza had slightly too much Thyme (i believe) It stole the taste of the pepperoni. But I loved the fresh dough taste. Also tasted like it was cooked on hot stone. So that was really nice too. I'd like to try it again with less seasoning. But I give it a 7 out of 10 for the Hampton Roads area. The Calzone had a little too much Oregano (i believe is what i tasted). But it was cooked perfect and again I love the fresh dough taste. Now on to the Alla Vodka.. OMG it was delicious. (You must like mushrooms) The ingredients was PERFECTLY blended and cooked. I love my red sauce Pizzas. But good gawd this was on point. Only thing I would do different is roll a smaller end crust so it can hold more of that fabulous flavor! This place gets 5 stars for MANY reasons. I will come back when I can afford it lol. FYI, I'm a pretty picky eater. Sorry if I offended you all with the too much seasoning. But I already love you guys. Thanks for being part of this...
Read moreEvery once in a while, you stumble upon a place that not only exceeds your expectations but also touches your heart with kindness. This was exactly my experience with The Box. Arriving just after closing time, I was ready to turn away, but to my absolute surprise, they welcomed me with open arms and, incredibly, a free pizza.
From the first bite, it was clear that this was no ordinary pizza. The crust was delightfully fluffy, a testament to their handmade dough that had been given just the right amount of time to rise, achieving a perfect balance of airy and crisp. The sauce was robust, with a depth of flavor that can only come from carefully selected ingredients and a recipe that's been honed to perfection. It was the foundation that elevated every other component of the pizza.
But the real standout was the cheese - unique, delicious, and unlike any I've had before. It melted beautifully, with a delightful texture and a taste that complemented the sauce and crust in a way that can only be described as harmonious. Every ingredient spoke of quality and care, from the perfectly cooked base to the last bite.
In a world where the rush to close shop can often overshadow customer service, The Box reminded me of the beauty of generosity and passion for one's craft. This wasn't just the best pizza I've had in a while; it was a reminder of what makes food so special - the love and care that goes into making it.
Thank you, Kurtis, for not just an incredible pizza, but for an experience that I'll remember for a long time. Your commitment to quality, both in your food and in your service, truly sets you apart. I can't wait to come back (a bit earlier next time) and taste more of your...
Read moreWe went before the new ownership and it was pricey then, but the food was really good. I was cool with the pricing because the food was really good and I'll take a local place over a chain 9/10. Since new ownership, we have been back twice and will not be returning. This morning, I paid $8 for a ham and cheese omelet without sides, then added $4 for a side of hash browns. For a $4 side, I better see half a plate of hash browns. Nope, not even close. The omelet was decent, but for only ham and cheese, it was nothing special, again, ESPECIALLY for the price. We also got biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were huge, dry, and there was barely a drizzle of gravy. I can't even tell you if the gravy was good because the biscuit just absorbed it so much. Our last item was a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. The sausage was burnt. The egg was fried super hard. The cheese was rock hard like the whole thing had been sitting under a warmer (except, it hadn't been, so I don't know how that's even possible). The previous visit was pizza and very similar experience - a lot of ingredients, but flavors that were just meh, all stacked on a ridiculously expensive, bland crust pizza. I'm not sure if people are just committed to a local place, but I do not understand it. With the new ownership, it is WAYYYY overpriced and the food is not even good, let alone great. Update since the owner responded: Yes, my review was written when it switched to "Andora's Pizza Box." If it has changed owners again since then, the food and service may have changed. I stopped paying attention after the "Andora" team took over and have no idea who owns and operates it now. I would love to give a...
