If ever you find yourself in Potosi Mo. And are hungry...KEEP DRIVING!!! We went to this place because we wanted to try someplace new and considering we were on our Harleys...we headed for this place. BIG MISTAKE!!! Although the service was reasonable...just being in here left alot to be desired. Its not a restauran t...its 2 store fronts thrown together. Honestly Ive been in better garages. We both had their Buffet and again...what a disappointment. Very little to choose from and just by appearances didnt look too enviting. Stuffing is supposed to be fluffy not so runny that you can eat it through a straw. Their version of Pepper steak was broken up hamburger patties smothered in brown gravy with Onions NO PEPPERS!!! Ham they had on the Buffet was swimming in water and basically boiled and still had all of the fat attached to it. Then theres the Fried chicken...so greasy that just by looking at it you can feel your arteries harden. Taste wise...the grease that the chicken fried in was old and burnt and left a really bitter after taste. Green beans they had were so over done and boiled that Youde have to look twice to decide whether they were green beans or creamed spinache. Im not sure who they have cooking but whomever it is..they need to either change jobs or get some training because its obvious they dont have a clue. After eating here I couldnt understand how in the world this place had so many 5 star reviews but after being here...It occured to me that this is the only place in town and its all they have besides fast food. Then we come to the price for this nightmare...50.00 for 2 people. REALLY??? Expensive...
Read moreOk, so the buffet options are a little on the limited side, but that being said, there was plenty to choose from. There were 3 main choices to choose from and about 5 different sides. The salad bar was very large and they had it well stocked. There were also about 5 choices for the dessert portion of the meal. They have a full menu if you don't want to utilize the buffet so all the complaining in these reviews are really for nothing. We ordered 5 buffets and one meal off of the full menu for the one oddball that didn't want the selections offered on the bar and everything tasted great and delivery of the menu items was relatively fast. The end total was about $75.00 for a family of 6, but, again, for the choices offered, this was a fair price. There was fried chicken, but who can go wrong with chicken? It's a safe bet and all buffets offer fried chicken. There was also fried catfish and baked fish. Go anywhere and order a catfish plate and it's going to cost just as much and not offer all you can eat. Potosi is a small town, and this diner offers as much as the town population can support. Any more offered at a time would be a complete waste of food. If you don't want a small town atmosphere, don't stop. By all means, hit a main stream place off the interstate somewhere. But if you want a fair priced meal with friendly home town staff, it's worth the price...

I'm not new to buffets. Recently having moved from Las Vegas, Nevada, I would say I'm pretty accustomed to the buffet life at this point. Visiting family in Potosi had us in the vicinity of Family Steakhouse, and our only regret is we didn't live here to visit more often.
My buffet was fantastic. The cod, talapia, sweet carrots and soup couldn't have been better. Though the chef made mass portions, each item felt like they were individually made for me.
The food was not sitting in a hot hold forever. It was all enjoyably hot, and recently made. I could not give this establishment more praise for the food i ate.
The environment is extremely welcoming, everyone within knows one another, and are treated like family. I am personally unaccustomed to this, as where I'm from people don't generally interact.
By the end of our trip, the whole family was extremely satisfied and knew the chef and waitress by name. Thank you Karen for the wonderful service, and amazing food. I wish you guys the best of luck with your business, whenever we are in Potosi we will revisit. You guys were...
