I was in the area (23 August 2024) for the annual Carlisle Corvette Weekend and decided to visit Yuengling Brewery and saw Coney Island as a good lunch option. I stopped in the The Coney Island Resturant first, and the glares and unfriendly attitudes of the young female workers almost scared me out of the restaurant. I walked in, hardly no one in the resuturant or in line to order, they glared, never spoke causing me to say, "Hi Everyone - which caused the greeter to say, what do you need and I responded that is not very Welcoming???" I have never seen such unhappy young workers. As a 32 Year Military Retiree Veteran, I have traveled the states and World, and have never seen such rage and unhappiness regardless of what part of the country I visit. They were Beyond welcoming and looked like, how dare you come in and bother us. Whomever owns this place needs to start with a "Lets Talk About What is Bothering You" with no repucussions. Therefore, I asked if I could have a water and beer, and they directed me to the bar that was part of the restaurant. This is where things got much better and friendlier. The bartender, whose name on the receipt is Guy, was super, as were the four locals eating at the bar. I ordered a cheeseburger and a coney dog. I could not eat the cheeseburger (one bite and yuk) as it had a spoiled taste, but I ate the first Coney Dog, then ordered another, and they tasted good. I stayed about 30 minutes, left, and attempted to headed to the Yingling Brewery Tour. I never left the restaurant before I had to dive into the bathroom as my stomach imploded; 30+ years in the military eating whatever they serve, this resturant did my stomach in. I must have been in there 20 minutes and this stomach issue continued thank God it gave me a break during the Yengling tour but came back immediately after the tour and off/on during my drive back to Carlisle Barracks, PA. My gut told me to "just leave" when I saw the unhappy workers and how they greet customers, of course, unless they know you are you are a regular. I will not visit this resturant again as I never felt sicker. ...
Read moreGood food however bad experience. Trying to avoid the potholes in the parking lot is like driving through an obstacle course. Drive thru does not have a menu but they do have a sign posted that they charge a 5% fee if you use a credit card for purchases under $50. However, senior citizens are exempt because their "system" does not allow them to extend a 10% senior discount. When you pull up to the window you drive over an air hose (the type that was used at full service gas stations). No one responded. I noticed a doorbell button which I pushed. Someone responded, I gave and paid for my order (3 cheese burgers 1 cheese dog and fries). Then I waited and waited and waited. The person in the second car behind me got tired waiting and just drove away. Then the one behind me pulled out of line and went inside which I did as well after a few more minutes. There was only a handful of customers inside but the outside area that serves alchohol was quite busy. There were several orders pending (hanging tickets) including mine. I asked for my money back. One young lady said she was starting my order so I agreed to wait (more waiting). Another worker asked for 2 burgers for an outside customer. They were made and served immediately. The food is good however I have...
Read moreFood is ok. My issue is that I was charged $5, I'm assuming a tip, that I didn't authorize. My total was under $20, so that's more than a 25% tip, to hand me a tray. No available table to sit at, only the counter with uncomfortable old stools, where you would face the workers. One table for 4 was occupied by I'm assuming a worker on their break. We were told we could sit outside, in the rain. Also, I didn't see a sign to warn us about the charge for using our debit card, another 75 cents fee, plus a rounding up fee. Whatever that is...so altogether, I was charged $5.77 more than just our food. Not ever going back. FYI, I'm not against tipping, in fact I tip very well, if it's not for just handing me a tray. I don't tip at Mc'Donald's either. Adding your own tip is stealing at best, possibly credit card fraud. This is not about $5, it's the...
