I once gave Billy Ray's a 5 star rating. I'm revising my review because apparently the staff has changed. I was outside waiting for them to open, 8 Am passed and I could see them, they could see me outside, still didn't let me in until 8:10. Ordered an omelette, potatoes and toast. Omelette came swimming in a pool if grease, NOT an exageration, it soaked a large napkin with oil. Toast was cold wouldn't even partially melt the butter. I had to get up and go get my own salt and pepper. One lady employee was chopping lettuce for the days business on a table back near the restrooms and outside the kitchen on a cutting board laid on that table. The young male cook came out and I showed him the napkin (large) soaked with oil and he said "yeah, I was having a hard time keeping the bacon grease out of it" so apparently they were cooking raw bacon and my omelette on the same surface. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I am a native Eastern Kentuckian and I am not at all happy about my visit as the whole staff was untrained and could care less. STAY AWAY is my advice. There are better choices where you don't have to service...
Read moreBilly Ray's is one of the most loved and iconic restaurants in Prestonsburg Kentucky. They have a wide variety of southern home cooked food. You can get anything from their famous pool room burgers to delicious tender prime rib and so much more. They have a wonderful staff with amazing cooks and some of the friendliest service around. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is warm inviting family friendly and intimate. On Fridays you can even have one of their romantic dinners by candlelight. Their restaurant is always clean and tidy making for a great experience. Billy Ray's is worthy of a first date place, a family favorite spot, a business meeting, and a food connoisseurs dream. Also if your worried about price dont be. Restaurants of equal value it wouldn't be hard to drop a 50 for two people to eat. At Billy Ray's your not going to spend even half of that for two people to eat. Their prices are unbeatable for the kind of food and service you get. If you live here in Prestonsburg or if you are just passing through I highly recommend Billy...
Read moreThis was place was rated so highly and I had high hopes, however my first visit was not so great. I ordered steak tips with onion and peppers. Sides were mustard greens and pinto beans with a yeast roll. My company ordered a steak hoagie with fries.
Company enjoyed her hoagie… but really didnt eat the fries because they were last thing finished and we agreed to bring everything out.
My tips were accurately described as pathetic. I literally had 3 small pieces of onion that I had to look for. There were a fair amount of green pepper. The tips were moist and soft with practically no taste so one would need steak sauce. I ordered mine well done but my tips barely had any sear marks so they were prolly baked covered then fried for a minute. The tips looked so pathetic too looked like scraps of another’s meal. The yeast roll was dry but at least had butter on top.
The order took a lengthy time and I was shocked to find the fries as the hold up apparently. I do not recommend this place although the workers...
