Barrel Society is the best bar in town - the beer and whiskey selection is stunning. Despite living in Chicago and having what seems like a plethora of beer at my fingertips, no one has a beer selection quite like Barrel Society in Princeton--seriously! The owner Nick constantly sources new beers from microbreweries who have, in turn, become some of my favorite brewers. If you're interested in learning more about beer and whisky, while also drinking the best product around, this is the place to go. The staff is impressively knowledgeable.
Nick markets his products fantastically well, too - if you need to put a smile on your face, are in for a good laugh, or are just curious about beer and whisky, follow him on Instagram and Facebook. Seeing his posts, especially throughout COVID always make my day a bit brighter.
As far as ambiance goes, Barrel Society is decorated with colorful, intricate artwork from Nick's personal collection. Walking through the bar to look at the artwork is a treat in itself. And do not forget to check out the bottle shop! Not only is it beautiful, but it is also the best spot for high-end, rare whiskies, ryes and bourbons at an AMAZING price. If I ever go to the bar and a friend from Chicago isn't able to make the trip with me, I'm always asked to bring back at least 3 bottles because my friends are simply unable to find the same products--especially at Barrel...
Read morewe walked in there and asked if they'll be able to sit 10 people. we wanted to sit outside. In order to do that we had to walk through the bar (no problem) I asked if it's ok if our kids ( two boys under 11) can walk through the bar without masks. we were told YES. We went to order food from the food truck. As I stayed behind and my husband went in to grab the table he was told that we can't sit there (out side) become our boys are under 21!!!! we ASKED BEFORE AND WERE TOLD ITS OK. WILL NEVER GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE we were left sitting on a curve to eat our meal...... we've been to MANY places..... micro breweries ect.... we take our kids everywhere. this is ridicules. as much as I was looking forward spending time and my $$ at Barrel Society Inc. my foot will never be placed at this facility again. and I will make sure to let others know about my experience.
I see the response. At the end of the day all my group wanted to do is have good food and good beer at a nice bar. Sitting outside and support a local business. We didn't do anything to make you think otherwise. As I said on Facebook, you lost a good client. I'm ok with that did nothing wrong. Theres plenty other places i can go to. Or maybe it...
Read moreMy husband and I moved to Princeton about 4 years ago from the Chicago suburbs. We were so excited to find Barrel Society--it's a gem! We just love hanging out on a Friday night (or Saturday, or a Sunday for their amazing Bloody Marys, or sometimes on a random Thursday). The beer and bourbon list goes on and on and the cocktails are tasty and creative. The bartenders are very friendly and considerate. There's a bottle shop in the back that's stocked with beer, liquor, and other cocktail making needs (it's perfect because we're trying to build our home bar so we can run in and grab what we need). If they don't have something you're looking for in the bottle shop, they'll make suggestions (or even try to order it for you). Their special events and trivia nights are so fun. Nick, the owner, works really hard to bring in food trucks from all over, so on those occasions it's fun to grab some food and sit and eat in the bar with a cocktail or two. We're so appreciative that he's brought in so many great food options and comes up with fun...
