A terrible experience! I went into DeLuise Bakery today to buy a zeppola. I only bought one because I wanted to see how they tasted before I purchased the dozen I was contemplating purchasing for my family on Saint Joseph's Day. If I were to tell you that the lady behind the counter was RUDE, that would be an understatement! Some of the people coming over to my home for zeppole have allergies to different types of ingredients. For this reason I politely asked the lady behind the counter what type of flour the bakery uses to prepare their zeppole. When I asked her she looked right at me and said (in a sharp, caustic, and sarcastic tone) "How am I supposed to know I'm not a cook...go ask the cooks!" What lousy customer service and what a terrible attitude! I told her I would never be back and I won't for sure! Too bad she lost a sale for a baker's dozen of zeppole! Weird thing is that I was always taught that the elders are supposed to set good example for the young, yet the teen aged girl behind the counter today was far more helpful and polite than this female version of Oscar the Grouch that couldn't even be bothered to answer my question or to at least find someone in the building who...
Read moreThis bakery has a great presentation and good service. I visited them three time in hope that maybe the next visit I would find what I was unhappy with would be better the next time. I purchased many items each visit, the corn and cranberry muffins were nice and moist, the bran muffins were crumbling and dry seemed like the were a day or two old although I doubt they were old. Each visit I found the same result on these. The Russian Tea Cakes, I was told they had the rum flavor which was what I wanted but could barely taste any at all, tried these on the first and third visit, same result. The hermits I picked up on the third visit, I found them like the bran muffins, dry and crumbling and no molasses or spice flavors. The donuts I purchased on the second visit were very good just as all reviews stated. I spent a very good amount of money and purchased many different combinations of pastries at each visit and my family and myself found for our hard earned money we were not going a...
Read moreI spent $37.00 on specialty pastry for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The eclairs and baked zeppole’s had a weird, pinchy taste, like they were spoiling. We had to throw everything in the garbage disposal. Everyone of them were bad. I called DeLuise in Providence where I bought them and the woman told me they were made fresh and wouldn’t do a dam thing about it because we got rid of them. Bad customer relations I would say!!! At least tell me to come back in and make good for what I purchased. I grew up with DeLuise being the bakery to go to if you wanted good pastry! Not anymore!!! They probably don’t care, but I will never go back in there again!! “Throw me a bone, and I will in turn give you plenty of business”. Never patronize...
