Isla Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Providence

I can’t even begin to explain the disappointment I experienced during my first and last visit to Isla Bar & Grill. Initially, everything was going great, smooth, and I was enjoying the atmosphere of the restaurant. For reference, I visited on a Saturday during happy hour when drinks and appetizers are served at a reduced rate. I left the place feeling everything but happy. My friend and I finish enjoying our time there and ask for the bill. It took more than 20 minutes for our waitress to bring the check. To our surprise, the waitress decided to add 3 extra drinks to our bill. I pointed this out to her and she became hostile and aggressive. She tried her best to convince me that we somehow we each drank 6 cocktails… I asked her to review the camera footage so we can resolve the matter and she dismissed me saying that she “would have no reason to add extra items to my bill to receive a larger tip”. I found this strange because I never accused her of such a thing. On our way out of the restaurant, the waitresses decided to continue the confrontation by waiting for me to finish using the restroom to tell me to “don’t come again”. I gladly agreed and...

I have only been here once, and it was exactly what I was looking for. It is small, but it wasn't crowded, so it worked out. Reservations are needed if you want a table, but we got a nice spot by the corner at the bar. I am in the mature age range and no longer enjoy loud and crowded places, but I still love to dance, etc. This place checked off a lot of my boxes. It was a nice crowd that night with mostly women. Everyone was chill and enjoying their time and birthdays! We had an appetizer, which was delicious. The drinks were good as well. We were able to get some of our songs played, which I love! Cute little Spanish lounge, fairly new. Plays mostly Spanish music- reggaeton and some American music, chill vibe, hookah sold/served here. The food is decent, I love the ripe plantain with cheese and your choice of meat (called canoa). The drinks are alright, expensive for no reason and my glass felt like it was empty. But the atmosphere is lay back, the staff are nice, social. Went there for Mother's Day and they presented my friend and me roses to say happy Mother's (kind gesture).
