Groundhog Grindz — Restaurant in Punxsutawney

What a gem! We’re in town for Groundhog Day weekend 2018, and decided to stop by at a suggestion from the Punxy Visitor’s Guide Book. SO glad we did! They were hosting a small vendor show, including a nearby local winery (lemme tell ya... the wine tasting before coffee was genius).

Ginger Snapped Bakery had a charming, lovely pastry case. I wish my stomach was bigger- everything looked beautiful and incredibly tasty! I chose a stroopwaffle with molasses- I’ve never had home-made stroopwaffles before, and this was truly divine! Buttery, crunchy, sweet, and the just-perfect when dipped in coffee. Yum!

Beverage wise, I also wish I had more stomach space. So many delicious options on the menu! We played it seasonal and choose the Groundhog Mocha- a mocha with caramel. So tasty, and made with real chocolate. Other things that stood out for me- the white-chocolate strawberry mocha and tea selection.

Small note on other Yelp reviews I’ve read, and the general business. It’s no surprise that Groundhog Day weekend is busy, busy, busy for the town of Punxy. The town of 5,000 grows to 40,000- so yeah, you will likely have to wait and be delayed a little. Be nice, be kind, be understanding... the town staff is working hard, and as a visitor, I truly appreciate what you guys do to make out-of-owners feel welcome. (Seeing Punxsutawney Phil has been on my buck list for over a decade now, and I am so pleased with all the people I’ve interacted with in this town).

My friend and I were visiting Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day. As I am from the Boston area, where we have a Dunkin on every corner, we were desperately seeking a good cup of coffee. We were delighted to find Groundhog Grindz! The options for coffee creations were endless. The coffee delicious and fresh. The service was above and beyond and the shop clean. We ended up going three mornings in a row and on our second visit we didn’t even need to repeat our orders as the baristas had remembered what we had ordered the morning before. On our third visit we met the owner. He was super friendly and let us know he plans to start roasting his own beans soon. We will definitely be back next year! I wonder… will they remember our...

Today I decided to get coffee for the girls in our office as a little morale boost. When I went around the office to get orders I got two "surprise me" requests. Well, I called in about a half hour ahead of time and hesitantly placed my order, complete with "And two surprise drinks." The staff took it as a personal challenge to provide us with their personal favorites and they were a huge hit! I came in and they had the drinks all ready and our surprise drinks carefully labeled. We all had a good laugh and when I made it back to work everybody was so happy with their drinks. If you're ever feeling adventurous, I recommend giving the baristas at this...
