Joe's Drive In — Restaurant in Punxsutawney

Cheeseburger and fries and a coffee for dine-in. And a dreamsickle soft serve for the road. So what could possibly go wrong? Well you tell me.

Cheeseburger was "the usual way" meaning how most have it. So, plain meat and cheese?

Bun was plain and untoasted. Meat was a thin patty, lacking in flavor. The cheese was what appeared to be a single thin slice of American, cut in half, laid in a cross. This was on the level of a plain McDonald's cheeseburger, maybe a bit better.

The fries... I know that it's possible to have fries with a dark color like this and still be fine, depending on the style and the seasoning. But these were mostly limp and soggy and looked like this. Old fry oil? Too long in the fryer at too low a temp? Something's not right.

Coffee was fine. Plain black is how I like it, but truthfully I should stop taking my generic coffees black and reserve the "black" coffee to the stuff I make at home.

The orange dreamsicle soft serve is what ended up elevating things. Had it not been for this 50/50 orange and vanilla swirl, rating may have gone lower.

Overall it's hard to complain too much about the food given its low price, which probably came in at just at or just above $10. Not too bad for these days. But I just can't help but feel that with just a couple of small tweaks this could have been...

Nice people. Clean place. It's a little out dated as far as interior BUT the food makes up for it ! I ordered a pizza burger and jalapeno poppers. My husband got 2 foot long hot dog with sauce and onions and onion rings. Descent servings on everything. We each got fountain drinks with free refills. Our meals total for 2 was less than $20.00. Food came out quickly and hot. The food tasted great!!! I've had many pizza burgers and this 1 was the best thus far ! We decided to try some ice cream at this point. I got a hot fudge brownie delight and my husband got a hot fudge Sunday with peanuts. They were good sized ! Under $8.00 for both. Ice cream is just as good ! Got a banana milkshake to go and got going down the road to find that I wasn’t given a straw so I couldn’t drink it. The shake ended up a melted mess in the trash of a McDonald’s very disappointed. Went to this place again and dealt with the slow service and the pompous ignorant attitude of the girl who for some reason had to tell me that the customer isn’t always right and that her boss Joe agrees with her so I don’t know it’s an ok place to go but it isn’t stellar but this is Punxsutawney and unless you go further down the road there isn’t much here so it’s what you might expect nothing special being a lack of competition they can do what they...
