Update, still terrible!! We came in at about 540, asked to be sat at a high top after 10 min my husband had to go ask the hostess where the server was. As we are looking at other tables with the same look on their faces looking around. A lady comes over, assumed to be a manager, and didn't know she didn't introduce herself. She just said she could us get drinks while she found us a server as the bartender approached and took over. He was fine, friendly enough. Margaritas were good. The Fiesta salad, i think, with the Crunchy tortilla bottom, was gross. The carne asada was severely overcooked, it only had iceberg lettuce that was very poorly chopped and just the bitter bits. The pork stew was really dry but the flavor was ok. The tortilla soup had decent flavor but just not finished properly. Best things were the green chili cheesecrisp and the margaritas. Not a single server pre-bussed their tables. The poor busser had an entire bus bin full at every table. Just seems no one is trained properly. It's poor. Two stars because we didn't even get a chance to eat before we left, so we can't comment on the food. Service: awful! Worst we've had in a long time. All the bar staff has the worst case of tunnel-vision. You can be busy and still acknowledge people when they sit down. Took 20 min for someone to just wipe down the dirty bartop. We stayed that long just because we know it hasn't been open long and trying to be understanding. Once the bartop was wiped and menus dropped we received drinks but had to wait another 20 min for anyone to come back, at that point we asked for chips and salsa, I asked if we could have plates and napkins, never recieved them. Ended up taking them from a table. We decided we were just going to pay and leave after sitting another 15 min with no one taking our order. Had credit card in hand that multiple bartenders looked at. No one gave us a check. We threw down some cash and left. Won't be back! Teach your staff to acknowledge people and say, "I'll be right with you", that goes a long way!.

The rice is gross. My carne asada was not good. The only thing that was great was my waitress.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our unforgettable evening at Macayo's Mexican restaurant began with grabbing drinks at the bar, where we had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly skilled bartender, Isaac. His mixology skills were nothing short of exceptional. Isaac not only crafted exquisite cocktails but also provided fantastic recommendations that perfectly complemented our upcoming meal. His attention to detail and passion for mixology shone through in every drink he prepared. What truly stood out, though, was his friendly and welcoming service. Isaac's warm demeanor and engaging conversation made us feel right at home. After enjoying Isaac's delightful creations, we moved on to our dining experience, where Marcus, our server, continued to impress. Despite it being opening week, Marcus demonstrated an impressive knowledge of the menu. His recommendations, like the mini chimichangas and housemade guacamole, were spot on, adding a unique and delicious touch to our evening. As the night progressed, the general manager, Cruz, even stopped by to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction, which truly exemplified the restaurant's commitment to exceptional service. What truly sets Macayo's apart is their dedication to quality, from the fresh ingredients to the passion evident in every dish. We left the restaurant with smiles on our faces, eager to return. Macayo's Mexican restaurant has undeniably elevated Mexican cuisine in our neighborhood, becoming our go-to place for a delightful meal. If you're searching for an outstanding Mexican dining experience with exceptional food, service, and mixology, Macayo's is the place to be. Without a doubt, it deserves a well-deserved 5-star rating! Thank you, Macayo's, for bringing this culinary gem to our area. We're already looking forward to our next visit. If we could change anything it would be the hours of operation on the weekends to enjoy the atmosphere a little later.

The food is OK if you’re looking for a quick Mexican meal for a decent price. This location is fairly new at the time of this review, the atmosphere is pretty solid with an open floor design and patio. Now for the service
absolutely atrocious. We had a party of 6 people, no children. Most of the staff are kind and accommodating. Danny specifically accepted a reservation from us and neatly set the table upon our arrival. we arrived around 2 for a late lunch, the place was pretty empty with maybe two or three other parties seated. Our server arrived at our table promptly after we were seated, but offered no greeting whatsoever. The first words from her were “what do you want to drink?”. That’s fine, maybe a bit odd but at that moment, I brushed it off as a mistake. We all ordered our drinks and the waitress got to the last person who was engaged in a conversation with someone else at the table. The waitress stopped and stared at them until they noticed. The waitress stared at them and remarked “
drink?” To which they apologized for not being ready and gave them their drink order. Now everyone at the table had begun noticing this attitude from the waitress which seemed very unwarranted. We had been very polite up to this point with generous please and thank you’s. The waitress comes back with drinks, we order food while I attempt to disregard her attitude. The food comes out in a decent time and we began eating. No exaggeration, not even five minutes later, this waitress comes back to our table, while everyone has food in their mouths and asks us if we want boxes for the food. We calmly said no not at the moment since everyone was still eating. The waitress ROLLES HER EYES and left our table. This won’t be the last time this happens. We finally finish up our food when she comes back again and asks “
boxes?”. We got two boxes for our food and were prepared to order dessert since we were celebrating a bday. The waitress comes back with our boxes and the check in hand ready to cash us out. The waitress did not even ask us if we wanted dessert. We calmly explained that we wanted to do dessert as well. Commence another eye roll followed by a very obnoxious sigh. We had landed on getting Flan and Ice Cream. She asked us what we wanted and we told her Flan. Before we were able to inform her that we wanted the Flan AND the ice cream, she ran back into the kitchen while we half heartedly tried to call her back to get the rest of the dessert order. She arrived back at the table with the flan where we informed her that we wanted the ice cream too. She kind of stood there for a few seconds starring off into space and reluctantly wrote it down and walked off without saying anything. The ice cream arrived, along with the check despite not asking for it at that moment yet. You would think that it ends there but no. This waitress proceeded to helicopter our table until the money for the check was present and she took off with it. I’m not sure what gossip she shared in the kitchen or amongst the hostesses because we received very unsettling glares from each. Unfortunately, these waitresses do not wear a name tag, at least I couldn’t see one, but I sure remember that face. If it was not for the lack of service, this location would very likely be a spot for my wife and I to come back to for drinks as we had talked about while waiting for our food. We promptly decided after that experience that we would not be going back. The heavier set waitress with back hair, glasses, and multiple necklaces needs...

I'm not one to complain, I try to give people grace. But last nights dinner service was horrible. Upon arrival around 7:30pm my family of 4 waited 15 mins for our server Shaylee to greet us at our table. The restaurant was not too busy. I would say 3/4 to about half full. Shaylee did look rushed she took our drink orders. 2 margaritas, one mixed drink, 3 waters, and a rootbeer for my son. Took a good 10-15 mins to recieve just our waters. Shaylee came to the table to apologize for the delay on waters. Said "The water machine kept rebooting so it was taking awhile??" Huh?? Never heard of that. Then 10-15 mins later we recieved our cocktails that were not all filled to the top, very little ice and very poor looking. Shaylee again apologized for the appearance of the drinks and said "Sorry they are crooked back there!" Once again...what?? We ordered our food. And noticed Shaylee kept making her multiple rounds into and out of the kitchen. We had direct line of site into the kitchen to see a lot of the servers standing around talking in the mess of a kitchen. There were papers, boxes, and dishes all pilled up directly behind all the servers where the customers can see. Looked as if it was a hoarding situation. When we recieved our food. Shaylee brought out the plates. Came out rudely slamming our plates on the table (loudly) saying "watch out the plate is hot!" Totally unprofessional. Asked if we needed anything else. I asked her if my son could get a refill on his rootbeer since it was almost gone. She said yes (rudely). She asked for his glass. To which I handed it to her. She came back with his same glass that was refilled but with no ice. This is definitely showing laziness on her part. Usually most wait staff would notice if the customer is in need of another drink and automatically ask if another is needed or bring another to the table without question. The food was definitely lacking. Dry, cold and not great with presentation. Cafeteria food at best that was probably just reheated. Small portions. Not at all how macayos usually operates. Macayos used to be one of our favorite restaurants. I can definitely say NOT ANYMORE. This is definitely a management issue. Kitchen is dirty. Staff is rude and unprofessional (cared more about socializing with each other than doing their job well) Food is less than mediocre Not worth your time or $$ We will...

If you’re reading this review, I would like to start by saying I take my Google reviews very seriously and don’t just come on here to whine. We have dined in at this location numerous times and done take out a few times as well! We have also eaten at a few different macayo’s locations around the valley! All this to say, I believe I’ve given this location and its staff plenty of chances to show that my previous experience was a “one-off situation” but sadly it is not. After all, we do all have bad days, so I try to give grace. We love their food, and every meal we have had there has been phenomenal. However, the service is horrible! From the front desk staff being rude to the kitchen being so slow and the servers forgetting to bring you things. I would like to say, even though I don’t think the servers are great at this location, I’ve never had a rude server! The kitchen so so so slow! After you wait 35+ min for your table, it’s another hour to get your food! It becomes a 2+ hour meal and that’s ridiculous. No wonder the wait is so long if every table is a 2 hour meal! We usually only eat with 3-5 people. It is expected for your dining experience to take longer the bigger your party. The reason I decided to share my review today is because I had the worst experience with the hostess today and I have had issues with her before. The last time we were in she was super rude and unfriendly when asking about our party and seating us. She didn’t really seem happy to answer any questions! Today, I had a takeout order and she was still so rude! I haven’t had an issues with their younger hostesses, they are all great! This particular hostess is not a teenager, and she should have better customer service skills. (I believe her name is Natasha, and if you are a manager reading this, I really hope you address this). Because she is older and seems to have more experience I worry she is a manager. If she talks to and treats customers that way, I cannot imagine how she would treat people who report to her. I will never be choosing to eat at this Macayo’s again. You will only find me here if someone else makes me. I tried to give so much grace as it was a new restaurant and still getting started, but this is getting old! Please hire a new hostess with people skills and solve the 2 hour dining...
