The BEST ground beef taco I've ever had. Steak and Al Pastor as amazing as well. Lauro (the owner) makes you feel like family when you're here. And it was my cousin's cousin who told me to drive all the way from Central Illinois just to taste these tacos. It was worth the trip; after traveling extensively through Mexico and eating plenty of Mexican food between Tucson (where I was born) and San Antonio, I can absolutely confirm that this place has the best of the best.
There's something special about your first bite in. The meat is steaming and the corn tortillas have a certain fresh, heated sponginess to them that can't be beat. The amount of toppings are perfect. And while my first bite added nothing, I was also just as happy to top it with a bit of Lauro's extra spicy salsa that he shared from his own family table. I also added a spot of sour cream.
Wherever you're traveling from, consider yourself lucky if you've stumbled upon this place - or if you were fortunate enough to have a friend / family member recommend it to you directly.
This spot is flavor central, with food that is authentic, fresh, and hot. It's clearly made with love, and you absolutely feel like family when you sit down. Don't do take out. It's worth the time to eat in and get the true experience that he's worked over 40...
Read moreThis place is a wonderful family run bodega and restaurant. We placed our order at counter. Said eat in. Paid cash, cash only establishment. ATM on-site. Bought beverages from coolers they have varieties of juices, snapple, Arizona products, sodas both American & Mexican. They have tortas, sopes, tacos, burritos, tamales, enchildas, combo plates, traditional fillings but also lingua and menudo by the bowl or gallon. We ordered 6 ground beef crisp fried tacos Mexican style with cilantro, onion, avocado, queso fresca and lime wedge. Ordered a 50/50 plate Spanish rice/frijoles rather than combos. Papa was wiping down tables and grandson? bussing them. Family run so be patient. We sat at tables the mother bought us a basket a fresh fried chips and home made salsa. Ate chips while waiting on the rest of our order. Received our tacos, rice and beans. Tasty, freshly made a little greasy but perfect. I forgot they had carnitas and barbacoa on Saturday & Sunday. Wish remembered this and ordered that but will have that another weekend. Please don't forget to tip. One thing to remember if doing carryout CHECK your order before leaving store, this is the only time you can get mistakes corrected. If you Walk out...
Read moreWorse experience ever!!!!!! To give a customer old tacos and tacos with absolutely no meat or anything in them is crazy. Then when I ask to bring them back the next day, as I drove all the way home expecting them to be in good condition, the rude girl that is always at the front desk tells me to bring them "all" back! As if I would feed this poor representation of a business food to my family! Then I get there and try to talk, she has a problem with listening, talking over me when I was talking to her. Learn to listen to the customers who are expressing how you all messed up and what should be changed to fix the issue and prevent it from happening in the future! This is not how you handle yourself in any business!! Especially when I came in with a better than expected demeanor!!! Your attitude would make any sane person want to stoop to your level, however I refuse to act in a way that is out of my character!! I will never support this business again!! I'll also be sharing my experience with others!!! This is...
