Parking is wrapped around the building's outdoor bar area. It seems like the exterior would be a nice location for some beer on a warm, Wisconsin summer night. Inside, it has the typical warehouse-farmhouse chic that seems to be en vogue for small businesses as of the past five years. Greyish faux-wood floors, laminate table tops with a wood pattern, elements of industrial, you get the idea. Supposed to be trendy and rustic or something.
It's clean and bright inside and the walls have giant TVs on them playing sports and sports ball related things. There are two different, slightly separate seating areas and then bar seating. Not exactly first (or third) date-night worthy but good to bring your regular squeeze or friends to.
Focus on the appetizer menu and make that your meal. There are a lot of gems in their appetizer selection. I really like this place's grilled wings. Pork wings are also a fantastic choice. The secret weapon sauce is the best option I've tried so far but the traditional buffalo sauce is great too.
The regular menu is ok. I feel like the appetizers are so good I get disappointed with the main menu offerings. The meats are on that fine line between moist and dry that the addition of bread just becomes too much so you have to drown the meat in sauce and then all you can taste is the sauce. The meat is better on it's own, sans bread, and paired with some appetizers (seriously, get appetizers). They do not normally serve ribs. I talked with the owner and he says it takes so much time and effort to do ribs and if they don't sell it's a waste. I respect that. Price-wise, I'd say it's a little cheaper than most places known for BBQ but still a...
Read moreOrdered Meat Plate with a side of BBQ Beans. To go. Arrived on time 30 min later. Took about 5 minutes to finally get bartender attention. Not busy just chatting with everyone. She finally retrieved my order and I handed her my credit card. She then decided to get drinks for people at the bar while holding my credit card. She finally zipped my card and put the receipt and sticky pen on bar and just walked away. I signed and left it there. I hope she found it. Got home about 8 minutes later and opened container. Decent portions of brisket and pork. Very little fat. Nice. Glad I ordered xtra bbq sauce. What was on meat didn’t go far. Meat was tender and prepared properly. However was cold. Sauce is weak. No flavor. Not tangy. Not sweet. Better flavor in plain ketchup. Dull would be a perfect word for it. Cole slaw was warm and like rubber. Tasted spoiled. Never had any like it before. My side of beans were good. Both tablespoons full that was in a small plastic cup I first thought was bbq sauce. Not worth the $3.50. Tasted exactly like Bush beans. Highly doubt they were home made as advertised . Overall meat was prepared correctly. Decent portions as well. Drawbacks are sauce severely lacking, consider a better recipe. Side portions should be doubled or better or prices slashed. Beans are cheap. Get rid of coleslaw recipe and go to pic n save or the Pig for far better. I doubt KFC will sell you in quantity (they nailed it). Train staff better. Service one customer at a time and wrap up before moving on. Pay attention. Great possibilities here. Just lacking in all...
Read moreMediocre at best. BBQ "sauce" had so much smoke flavor that it puts the flavor in liquid smoke to shame. Cold fries, pork tasted like old sow meat smoked as much as the sauce to cover the taste and then smothered. Watered down catchup for the unsalted fries. Stopped in for ribs because O'Dennis is closed on Sunday- ribs are not on the menu. Owner asked how everything was but seemed offended when we gave an honest answer. Bill came with the fried pickle chips still on it even though they never came. Kids didn't eat the chicken strips because they were dripping in grease. Atmosphere is nice, recently remodeled. That gave...
