Stewart's Tavern — Restaurant in Raeford

After several recommendations to include one from my kids pediatrician, I decided to go try it out yesterday. I’m on the hunt for a caterer for our wedding so taste testing a few places was my plan. I say WAS because I’ve found the golden ticket,the nirvana of BBQ, the perfect baked cornbread, the smoked chicken was done with so well,perfect flavor, didn’t come out dry. Truly impressed by the rich goodness that had me waking up wanting more for breakfast. Sadly though I took half of this home for my wife to be to try, I find myself mourning the hours until lunch rolls around so I can satisfy the craving of BBQ excellence.

Atmosphere was relaxing,cozy at home vibes,and extremely clean which is a huge factor when I walk in, I’ve been know to turn around due to the first impression if it doesn’t pass the vibe check.

Employees were friendly and personable and made me feel welcomed.

Do yourself a favor on this fine Friday and enjoy. You won’t regret it.

Mixed feelings about Stewart's. We went around 4:30pm on a Saturday.

Molly and Courtney at the bar were so nice and very attentive. No complaints about the service or atmosphere.

Food was disappointing. We were hungry and wanted to try a little of everything. We ordered a tavern fries app with chicken which was good but the meal came out moments after the appetizer did which is a big no no for me.

My full rack of ribs was definitely not the "fall off the bone" experience I am used to. These were a dry rub. The meat was tough and overly spiced for my taste. Too much going on in this rub plus the flavor of the smoke totally overwhelmed my pallette. Couldn't even taste the meat. Conversely my husband thought his pulled pork was a bit bland but he enjoyed trying all of the bbq sauce options.

Sides were hit or miss. Baked beans and mac and cheese I can buy in a can or box but the collards and cornbread were very good.

Our cocktails were great. I really enjoyed my Old Fashioned and hubby had a good Manhatten.

Overall we enjoyed our visit and may be back to try some...

As I was on my 4th and 5ths substituted 4horsemen drink the bartender gave me less and less than the original drink assuming I was not paying attention, tipsy, or drunk(takes 9x4horsemen to get me tipsy, ask a navy seal who notices their liquor intake. Keep an eye out for all bartenders skimming your custom mix drinks- was hoping to give an awesome tip and review, but when the drinks shrank, so did their tip).

As a foodie expert the pull pork was decent, but something in the ingredients was missing. Although, the pull pork was tender and juice, but the Cole slaw was bland. The basic buffalo wings with sweet chile were awesome for those that are sensitive to spicy food.

I sincerely hope the owner takes notice of my review and pays attention to his bartenders skimming their customers mix drinks and giving them less liquor while charging them the same price. I was hoping to make an TT video for them and put them on the map for Keith Lee to review them and promote them for free, but I will review wangz next weekend instead.
