Hometown Pizza — Restaurant in Rainier

Late this afternoon, my kids and I were on a long drive up highway 30, stopped here for a bite and couldn’t have landed at a finer spot for grub.

If you’re from a small town like me, you’ll feel right at home. The pizza is killer, the staff are friendly, and all the tables are coated with a special paint so your kids can use ‘liquid chalk’ to occupy the whole family while you wait. If you don’t have kids, fear not; I had no idea the tables were specially coated until they handed me the box of markers and explained.

Regardless, we didn’t wait long at all before our pizza was brought to our table.

We were the only ones dining in, but from the time we arrived to our departure, a steady stream of locals came and went picking up takeout orders. That’s when you know it’s good.

We’ll go out of our way to swing through Ranier next time and enjoy some Hometown...

We went for the lunch buffet. All you can eat Pizza, Salad, & Beverage. It's M-F 11a to 2p.

They also have a Dinner Buffet on Tues 5p to 8p.

Our lunch was good. The Salad bar was clean and well stocked with lots of options.

The Pizza appeared as if it'd been under the heat lamps for a little bit, but it was still good. The crust was crunchy, and toppings plentiful. We'd definitely go back.

The service was fast, as we were the only customers there.

The ladies were friendly, but no overly welcoming. Definitely not rude, as some reviews state.

Hopefully they are actively working to improve their customer service, as that's what keeps people going back.

The restaurant was clean, spacious and orderly.

Overall.. we had a positive experience, and would recommend Hometown Pizza. If your service is Sub-Par, say something. Every proprietor wants return customers...give them a chance to make things right...but...

Should of turned around and walked out. Walked in and nobody sitting and eating. The lottery machines were busy. Asked the guy at the counter if it was a slow night. It was Thursday around 6:00pm. He told us it was just mainly a pick up or take out night. We said ok give it a try, ordered the Dippty 12 inch and two one time salads. The salad was low so he went and got more. I went to get some and there was a lot of brown lettuce. I asked him if he could replace it because of that. Ok he finally came out with fresh lettuce he said. Then told me that the lights they had on the salad bar made it look brown. No it was brown and ugly. They brought our pizza out in a To go box. Even through we were dinning in. The pizza was ok.Just not real happy with the food or service. Will not...
