Little James' BBQ and Catering — Restaurant in Rainsville

CAVEAT: Having never been here and after seeing a person enter the side door, where I was parked, I entered and found myself in a small storage room with another door. I entered it and was abruptly redirected to leave and come through a door on the end. I double-checked outside but found no signage. No "Employees Only", no "Please Use Front Entrance". Nothing. Therefore, use the door on the end!

Outside Cleanliness & Access: Very clean of nearly all detritus. Wheelchairs MAY have difficulty on the loose gravel. 4**

Inside Cleanliness: Near immaculate. Tables mostly clean (a little dust/appeared unused in some time) & floors very clean. The sanitary facility (one) was immaculate. 5*

Service: Upon initial contact, there was a person there that I only interacted with once and she was very short/gruff with me. I thought about leaving at that point. Second contact, server Randi, always had a smile & was very pleasant and efficient. -3* + 4** = 1*

Food: The large BBQ sandwich was just below par. Adding a large amount of the unlabeled, BBQ sauce that was heavily flavored of vinegar and placed in various shapes and sizes of containers on each table helped a little. 1* The flavorless potato salad reminded me of nearly cooked potatoes with only mayo added, no seasoning. The worst I've ever had & threw away 95% of it. -1* The baked beans tasted like a low-quality, generic brand. Threw away 98% of them. 0* The sweet lemonade was the savior. It tasted homemade and was some of the best I've ever had. 5* Food Average Score: 1.25*

Good BBQ and good service. I don't personally like their BBQ sauce( too sour for me), so I order it without and use the BBQ sauce I like on it. The meat is always tender and doesn't have fat or gristle in it. The slaw is very good too.My husband loves their ribs. You can drive thru or call ahead and order. Good place to go,but seriously needs better outside lighting at night,because the business is hard to see at night& you might drive right by! We love it. The food is great and a real treat. We use the drive through allot because it's easy. We can take the food home to eat. The proportions are huge. I always get two meals and then still have enough for little bites for my dogs. They think it's a real treat too. The smoked chicken is my favorite while my husband loves the barbecue. It's comfort food. The sides are just as good. The people who work there are so nice and kind. They make you feel like family. I...
