Little Blue Bakehouse is a one of the, if not THE, center of scratch baking in Raleigh, and a place of community and excellence. If you go to one bakery in the area, make it this one! Itās also just a great and super cute place to hang out and work.
Each baker takes great care baking all of their products, and because everything is made from scratch, some variety is to be expected.
Allisonās macarons made me, my sister, and her husband new macaron devotees because of their impeccable quality and taste.
Blue Oxās lemon bars, donuts, and croissants have all received rave reviews from the folks I gifted them to.
Yellow Garden has some of THE best scones and cookies I have ever tasted, and I lived in England for three years - you know the scones have to be good if I say that :)
Gryffinās cheesecakes, loaves, and cupcakes have always been a hit, or some of my favorite things when I go to LBB.
Sweet Nothingās gluten-free treats are so good that they often pass for the ārealā thing! Honestly, if you didnāt know they are gluten-free, you wouldnāt be able to guess because her flour and bases are crafted so well.
The drinks are handcrafted, often with house-made syrups that have undergone extensive trial and error to create the perfect combination with their coffee.
You want the real deal? Go to Little Blue Bakehouse. You can taste and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEach baker here puts their hearts into what they sell and it shows. From the beautiful variety of cheesecake-based donuts from Blue Ox (I'm not a croissant guy, but I will readily clear out the case of a chocolate, raspberry or oreo cheesecake donut if given the chance), to Sweet Nothings' Ooey Gooey Butter Bars and muffins, cookies, CINNAMON ROLLS!!! All gluten free!! I love Yellow Garden's scones, they are SO tender and flavorful, and my husband loves their confetti cookies. Gryffin's had some slices of a cadbury egg cheesecake last year that I am crossing my fingers and toes she will be able to bring back this year for the spring! Don't even get me started on the rotating cast of flavors at Little Blue Macaron. Chocolate covered pretzel and wedding cake were definitely winners to me for the Valentine's case, but I look forward to keeping my eyes peeled for what's to come!
Point being, I cannot think of a better place to spend time with a nice little pastry and a beverage of your choice. I am thankful that there is a space that exists like Little Blue Bakehouse, and it's sad to see other business owners and their families not seeming to believe that people genuinely care for this place and reviews have to be faked. Continue to abide no hatred, LBB. A little bluejay dosed with capitalism won't undo your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat am I missing here? There are so many great reviews of this place. When you walk in this is a picture of one of the bakers with a blurb about the baker who mastered his donut craft. I reluctantly ordered the Boston CrĆØme Donut. I say reluctantly because you could tell just by looking at it that there were problems. The chocolate was not tempered correctly because it was completely dull and looked like you had microwaved semi-sweet chocolate chips. You could also tell that donut had been over fried because the donut was a very dark brown and not golden like you would expect. I hoped for the best but was disappointed. The donut itself was completely dense and had more of a bread like texture. It had not risen at all before frying. The cream was decent but very sweet. This was like an amateur bakers first attempt at making a donut. Definitely not bakery quality.
Edit for the Owner: You are correct in sense that I did not understand that your place is an incubator for small bakery business. But my review was fair and was focused on the single item I tried. And the donut I tried was so below normal standards that it should never have been served. If you had made macaroons and they were completely flat and burnt, would you still serve them? I hope not. It makes a bad impression and leads to...
