I was excited to try this spot after reading glowing reviews about the food and service, but the experience fell short. The location at RIW was great -outdoor seating and good food - but service was confusing and underwhelming. We arrived on a quiet Sunday afternoon and weren’t sure how things worked. The woman at the register took our order, flipped the screen for a tip, and offered no further guidance. After awkwardly waiting with our chips and guac by the salsa bar, another staff member finally explained that food would be brought to our table, handed a table card, and showed us where to get drinks. That staff member also delivered the tacos and explained what was what, which helped since we ordered one of each. It wasn’t busy, so a simple welcome and explanation would’ve gone a long way and leave less room to wonder what service should I be tipping for. Aside from taking and delivering the order, there was no interaction with the staff, though there were a lot of them hovering behind the counter. We bussed our own table after we finished the meal and left feeling a bit let down, especially after reading reviews about attentive service with great recommendations from staff. Food-wise, the tacos were solid—pork, chicken, and pork belly were favorites. Cheese and pork belly offered a fun twist. Shrimp was decent but buried under cabbage. Chips were crisp, though the guac could have used a bit more flavor. The avocado vegan salsa was my favorite.

My first experience at Little Rey when they opened at Raleigh Iron Works left me underwhelmed, but a friend convinced me to give them another try, especially after hearing about their Torta De Barbacoa collaboration with Union Special. And I'm so glad I did! That torta alone was worth the revisit – truly outstanding. Beyond that, we dove into a selection of their tacos, sipped on their delicious margaritas, and enjoyed their queso, all of which exceeded expectations. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the service. The staff was top-notch, and the restaurant itself was impeccably maintained. The manager went above and beyond, stopping by each table multiple times to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal. They also boast an awesome patio for those who love dining al fresco. Little Rey genuinely has something for everyone, making it a great family-friendly option. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Don't forget the convenient parking garage nearby – it's a short, pleasant stroll to the entrance.

This Texmex restaurant and bar is located in the Raleigh Iron works district. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, dogs are welcomed on their patio. You order first, grab a seat at any open table and they bring you your order. They have a salsa bar, the ranch jalapeño is sooooo good. We ordered a little of everything to try, the smoked chicken is made fresh in house and the chip trio and elotes are a must try starter and side. The pricing is great and the team was super friendly and answered all our questions. Thanks Q, Caleb, Giana, and Renee for making our experience great and giving suggestions on the salsas to mix and food to try.

Stopped thru on 3/15 for takeout order, was greeted by Quinn who was very nice and most helpful to me in deciding what to try for my first visit. I asked her for the home run hitter and she suggested the Steak Al Carbon. I also ordered the rancho beans and cilantro lime rice, super greens, and the Fingerling Sweet Potatoes. While I waited for the order Quinn loaded me up with various Salsas and showed me the house preferred way to combine two of them and enhance another with fresh lime. I also bide my time with a nice, cold draft from Clouds brewing called the Hop Jam IPA 🍺. The to-go order came out quickly but I had requested the steak Al carbon for dine in. I must say it was the best Steak taco I’ve had anywhere. So tender and juicy with very nuanced flavors I was not expecting. I hit it up with the combo salsa Quinn made for me and gave her the nod of full approval.✅✅✅✅✅✅ While I was there, which was near to closing time, the staff made me feel very much at home and treated me very kindly which I fully appreciated. Now for a review of the other items ordered.

Fingerling Sweet Potatoes - Had to start here, like little garlic butter sweet potato chicken nuggets, 😆 🔥. Never had sweet potatoes anywhere near this creative, and that SAUCE!!!! Crisp Medallions on the outside and soft sweet potato inside. These are a definite must try and only second to the Steak Al Carbon.✅✅✅✅✅

Super Greens - Very light and fresh Kale salad. Really enjoyed the lime vinaigrette and cashews. I personally also added a bit of the light green salsa combined with lime which even further enhanced it to me. Great way to get your veggies in.✅✅✅✅

Rancho Beans and the Cilantro Lime Rice - combined these to for review as it’s only natural to combine them on your plate or bowl. The Rancho beans burst with flavor springing from the bacon and chorizo. The crema and pico de gallo balance those flavors perfectly. The cilantro lime rice can stand on its own or be the perfect compliment to the Ranch beans. It’s cilantro-y in the best way.✅✅✅✅

In summary, Little Rey is onto something over there. Plenty of parking options, outdoor seating, great food and drinks and a friendly staff(shout out to jasmin as well.) I was also informed they do breakfast Sat-Sun, which should be interesting to try their take on incorporating the EGG into the offerings. Hotcakes too!!!! I will be back and suggest you also try the Frozen Margaritas on tap this...

First time here and I definitely plan on returning. Worth 5 stars but I could do without the corn tortillas on the taco. Just my preference. Otherwise, everything else was wonderful and delicious! The two young ladies that helped me at the order counter were just wonderful and extremely helpful. They both had very nice personalities as well. Kayla assisted me with answering questions before I placed my order and also making sure everything was okay after I received my food. She was extremely charismatic. The super greens are delicious but I suggest asking if they could be served warm. They come cold and are okay but I believe they would be better warm. The veggie taco needs a flour tortilla (to me). The ingredients were good, just harder to enjoy in the corn tortillas. The sweet potatoes were EVERYTHING! The lime wedge is NOT JUST GARNISH. Trust me... squeeze some lime juice on the sweet potatoes, it's an extremely clever twist on the flavor. Very good 👍! I have never experienced sweet potato flavor in that way. Delicious! The restrooms are clean as well as the entire restaurant. Everything seemed to be kept tidy and...
