Stopped into Eastcut in the Raleigh Iron Works on my way back from a trip to Chatham County - Had read the great reviews and had to get there and see for myself. Had the Boardwalk Italian as I figured it would be a good baseline...just outstanding. As I told Jen, the general manager who introduced herself and asked me how everything was, I knew right away it wasn't Boar's Head - nothing against that brand but that is what EVERY OTHER place serves...coming from Chicago and having spent a lot of time in NYC as well as Boston, Philly, etc. I said I'm finally having something that I can sink my teeth into, as well as something that doesn't have just one flavor but a whole burst of 'em...man, what a revelation. Everything was fresh, lots of color, generous amounts of Italian ham, hot capicola, & salami but what made it was the Pickled Red Onion, House Vinaigrette, & the Sesame Roll....you just don't see those very often down here in the south, and for good reason - they're hard to get. The fact that Eastcut makes the effort means they know what the GOOD STUFF is....and that's where I want to eat.
Jen also suggested The Jet cutlet, which I said I could not wait to try as well as everything else on the menu.
GREAT food, great place, spotless, contemporary space, very cool people.....like I told, 'em, they're probably gonna be seeing a lot of me. After all, it's a pretty large...
Read moreThe issue is the inconsistencies with your orders. Some times the chicken is flavorful and amazingly seasoned, other times it is bland and tasteless. The sandwiches are also inconsistent with what you will get/have on them. I ordered a east katsu on two separate occasions and both times they was missing everything but the lettuce and a few drizzling of sauces. It was supposed to include kimchi, pickled onions, tomatoes, lettuce, chipotle sauce and Katsu sauce. If you're not sitting and eating at the time of your order then I highly recommend checking your sandwich before you leave. The only saving grace was the chicken katsu sandwich, when they made it right. Unfortunately they have discontinued it in favor of some pimento cheese chicken cutlet sub. It isn't horrible but it is in no way shape or form as amazing or note worthy as the east kastu when made correctly. I highly doubt I'll be making the 40 minute drive again until they bring back the east katsu sandwich. The other sandwiches are all typical offerings you can find at any other local chicken restaurant. Also big shout out to the female kitchen manager who was amazing and refunded the money for the error in the kitchen the two times staff dropped the ball. ADDITIONALLY BRING BACK THE EAST...
Read moreMy husband got extremely upsetting news so I offered to take him here for lunch after having such a great experience at the Durham location. The online ordering would not let us add anything to our cart, even drinks. I went up to order and the girl extremely rudely told me they only had 1 piece of chicken left so we couldn’t both order chicken sandwiches- which is half their menu. It would’ve been fine if someone had bothered to tell us when we came in or during the time we tried to figure out ordering on our phones and if she hadn’t been the rudest customer service person I’ve ever met. I asked for a manager and explained everything to the lead. She got the gm and I had to explain everything for a third time. She was extremely condescending and wanted to argue with every single thing I said. I told my husband “lets go” and the gm started coming out from the behind The counter and following us out. I had already told her we weren’t eating there and I just wanted them to tell people that their menu is not available. All 4 people I spoke to there were confused about why we were upset. We drove all the way from Clayton and this was the last thing my husband needed today. We’ll drive the extra 20 minutes to...
