The service was the absolute best you could ask for! The staff were just as eager to serve as they were professional. We went in for breakfast the atmosphere was very breakfasty.
The place was clean and ready. There was no waiting but the dinning room was busy with customers. It seems there is a place that understands what customer service is all about. Spring Cafe is that place.
Now on to the food. I got pancakes, eggs and sausage patties. There are not many people who know how to make real southern pancakes. You know the kind that are about as thick as four (4) crepes (Google crepes if u don know about them), have a nice golden brown color, melting butter between the cakes and most importantly the crispy edges all the way around each one. Oh, my goodness, I'm getting hungry again!
Just like most eateries SC just puts batter on the griddle 20 seconds later flip, plate, stack, top with butter and serve.
My eggs were scrambled but greasy. This comes from adding to much cooking spray to the grill prior to the egg pour. Real southerns know that a half pat of margarine is all it takes to keep eggs from sticking to griddle.
My sausage spent 90 seconds longer that it should have on the griddle. It was a little too chewy.
The coffee was hot, fresh and good! All in all, I'd go back and give them another try. There was more stuff on the menu and I'm looking...
Read moreThis place is just disgusting, I got talked into going here one afternoon by a family member who wanted to eat here. I ordered a coke and the glass looked unclean and the coke tasted like it was mixed with dishwater, I didn't touch it, I complained to have another glass with coke in it, the 2nd glass looked fine but the coke still tasted horrible so i pushed it off to the side. The menus when presented with them were sticky, as if someone had been handling them with maple syrup, there was a long black hair wrapped around on it and it was speckled with something gross.
The aesthetic to the place was an eyesore, the wallpaper looked to be 50 years old and ready to start peeling off the walls, it even looked gross to the touch, the floor was covered in grease and grime as if nobody had ever vacuumed or mopped the place, it even smelled like a dirty kitchen.
I ordered the BLT and the lettuce was soggy and the tomato was soft and mushy it even tasted off, I didn't finish it. Later I found out an old friend from highschool was working there and she told me that they reuse some of the food from a catering business and how there's bugs often times in the kitchen - it only reaffirmed that I do NOT go back to that place ever, and never will.
If you value your health, I'd avoid this place...
Read moreI came for the first time yesterday. When I walked in I wasn't sure of the format of the restaurant. An employee directed me to a table. I figured out on my own that the menus are on the table for you to be looking over. My waitress was nice. They were very busy. Their clientele is definitely an older crowd. I placed my order and waited about 30 minutes thinking they were just really busy. My waitress apologized for the wait and offered a percentage off on my order. Another 15 minutes or so goes by and I was getting ready to just leave (really, one simple order?). Just then my order came out and I ate quickly, in a hurry to leave after being there over an hour. The food was flavorful but not spectacular. No explanation was given for why my order was delayed (forgotten in the shuffle?). Also, it is a small place and quite a few families had to wait without any instruction to wait or acknowledgement. I think I would go back if a friend wanted to but not just on a whim again. There are so many great...
