I loved the exemplary service provided by both the hotel and restaurant staff. They went out of their way to provide us with a spectacular experience. On NYE our dinner order got lost - it's a busy night and while we were hungry it was understandable. We didn't really expect anything upon calling and learning the kitchen had already closed. Most places would maybe give you a credit at best to use another time. The Gate is not most places. The chef stayed late and put together our entire meal (one item had to be substituted but it was still delicious) and it was sent up to our free totally free of charge with a complimentary bottle of champagne. We were absolutely blown away. The next morning at the restaurant the chef came to apologize to us! We were shocked as all we wanted to do was thank her profusely! The bartender that morning (I feel awful because I tried to make a point to remember his name but am totally blanking) made a bloody mary spicy enough to impress me. That is not an easy feat. The Gate made our stay at The Rancho Murieta Inn and Spa better than it already had been. The entire staff was unbelievable.
If I could offer a suggestion at about anything it would be simply that it would be awesome to see the menu expanded a bit. Everything was absolutely yummy AF but I having some more variety would be even better. Also, the brunch menu was recently changed to no longer have bottomless mimosas. I would have loved bottomless mimosas! That said, I never would have enjoyed on of the best bloody mary's I have ever had. And as noted, it is seriously difficult to find a spicy enough bloody mary to impress me ... so I have no complaints except to hope that in the future they expand the menu a bit (the menu was new and going into effect that week for the new year so I expect that that is likely their...
Read moreReally enjoyed the salmon dish and mashed potatoes were amazing. There was hair in the risotto and it was cold so they replaced it with mashed potatoes.
However I let it slide until the service was not the best communication wise. We’d came prior for earlier lunch after we had wine tasting. We had a bottle of wine we had popped open, went on about our day and came back. We had the same bottle of wine that had already been opened for lunch. The waitress offered a glass not mentioning a corkage fee on already opened bottles. Upon getting the bill I wasn’t trying to get over on them but I was explaining to the manager we had already paid a corkage fee and it was already opened. She dismissed me and would not hear me saying it had to be paid. She told me it was even illegal for me to have the open bottle (this may be common since to some but I drink maybe once ever 1-2 years and it was my first time bringing in wine).
We also were celebrating two occasions and were told we’d be given deserts for both. We’d had lunch earlier as well and when we mentioned it was my husbands birthday and our anniversary they offered a complimentary for both but told them we were coming back for dinner so we’d wait. When we got the bill there were charges for desert. I didn’t mind as they were great however I was more-so trying to tell them the communication could have been specific and clear upon us ordering two deserts. When I asked the waiter said “I guess they only do one.” Which is fine but again, tell us.
The manager is very dismissive and not interested in hearing you. I’m pretty laid back and easy going so I just let it go. However, we’re still here and I’ll be eating at places outside of here for the remainder of our stay after hearing and seeing the reviews of...
Read moreStaying at hotel one night for fiance to take a 3 hour entrance exam for the Operating Engineers Journeyman Apprenticeship Training Center (located less than half a mile from the Murrieta Inn & Spa) at 7:30 am the following morning. Even though the hotel it's self was a splurge, I felt he deserved an easy morning on testing day. Being the ever thoughtful gentleman that he is requested I permit him to treat me to dinner at the hotel's restaurant. I've had my fair share of hotel stays encompassing the entire spectrum of quality and type as well as having worked in fine dining during my 20s in Tucson AZ. Although we started our visit less than an hour before closing on a Monday night, THIS WAS BY FAR ONE OF THE TOP 3 BEST TASTING MEALS I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF DINING UPON. Both our meals (his: the filet, farm fresh veggies and mashed potatoes; mine: the salmon, same veggies and crispy fingerling potatoes) were delightful, though his filet was far closer to well done than the medium well he'd asked for as it was cooked light brown all the way through and had NO pink with the exception of about one square inch on a thicker edge. It was still delicious, tender and every last morsel was savored. He, the ever picky eater (special orders everything plain as possible even at fast food places) and I with my minimal appetite, and spoiled by my years in fine dining, BOTH FINISHED EVERY LAST BITE ON OUR PLATES.
