Impressive place. Small but good. The pizza selection is unique. The subs are great. Soup-great. Cheese curds- great. $60 for dinner for 4 was a little high until we realized we ordered enough food for 8 people. When we saw it on the counter ready for us to bring back to the table our eyes were pleasantly surprised. We had a fiesta pizza, a paulys trio pizza and a cheesey bacon mac pizza all 12" and a half sub. Four people. It was good. The to go boxes were much appreciated. The only things that bothered me was the fact that, as new comers, we could have been directed a little better. We stood outside the que while we studied the menu but no matter where we stood we felt in the way. There was not a place to stand and look at the menu and evidently there is not table service so what do ya do? Also the cashier, although she had good eye brows, DID NOT SMILE. A simple smile, welcome "Here is the menu if you have questions please ask" would have earned a hard 5 stars from me. Smile people, it's your job. We all deserve a kind smile especially when we are coming in to spend money with you. So even if you hate your job it is your job until you leave. My job, when I come in to eat with my family or friends, is to be polite, spend money and not make your life more difficult. I say that in respect to any food establishment. Just be nice to people doing what they are supposed to do because if customers don't come in and spend money you don't have a job. It seems simple. I would love to love so many places but the service is scary. Worth noting: I did not try the beer but the selection was vast. I would say 12 or more on tap. You fill your own glass so poor heavy or light however you like. I think that it is worth a second trip if I am back in the area. I recommend Pauly's and I hope the gal was just dealing with a toothache or something and will have better day next time.

100/5 Exceptional Service! This is what REAL customer service looks like! Ask for Jeff when ordering - he is a great help. Special request or forget to add something to your sandwich? Jeff is on it! The pizza are freaking amazing! I think this is the BEST pizza in 6 states! The crust and everything is prepared IN HOUSE/HOMEMADE! Want frozen go somewhere else! If an employee comes in to eat here on her day off - what does that tell you!?!? She just knows regardless of her not working, it’s fabulous! The bathrooms are clean and labeled “family restroom.” This makes me happy, no stereotypes! Brian, the owner - a true business man who has happy employees! Get here during the week - Monday through Friday because he gives his employees the weekends off! Happy employees perform and ensure they work to ensure your satisfaction!

The cheese bread was some of the best we've ever had. It was soft, thick, and very cheesy. The pizza had very good ingredients. In fact the mushrooms were large slices not usually found on a pizza. However, we found the crust to be too thin and chewy for our taste. This surprised us since the cheese bread was so good. Be prepared to wait since they only have one small oven and the orders can keep them quite busy. Update: I had to lower the rating due to the fact that I've never heard of a pizza joint that wasn't open on the weekends. We returned for an encore only to find the place closed.

My family was taking a trip through Rapid City and decided to stop by Pauly's Pizzeria & Sub Co. The atmosphere seemed friendly and the staff worked diligently in the kitchen. While we were standing at the counter ordering our food, the owner rudely corralled people because they were crouding the front counter. After sitting down to wait for our meal, we went to the bathroom to wash our hands before eating. Shockingly there was no soap in the bathroom to clean off your hands. Mind you this is a fairly high priced eating establishment. We were absolutly disgusted by the thought of employees using the bathroom without anyway to sanitize their hands before returning to the kitchen! So we went to the owner to cancel our order and get our money back. Unfortunately, the owner argued with us that he was not in any violation of health code. The owner was clearly irritated by us bringing up the food safety issue with him. We were shocked by his cavalier dismissal of our request for the soap dispensers to be filled, so we had to tell him that we would have to file a complaint with the Health Department. Even after we attempted to work with him to settle the matter and finally having to tell him that he had serious food safety issues, the owner was still reticent to refund us and most importantly, refill the soap dispensers to prevent food born illness. Finally, the owner refunded us our money but disingenuously thanked us for our business without once apologizing for his behavior or the food health issue with his establishment. I'm sure that many customers have had wonderful experiences eating out at Pauly's Pizzeria, but their night out should not be at the cost of their health. Furthermore, the owner needs to improve his dealings with customer complaints, especially when it deals with...

Eating here as I am writing this!! My family of 5 is here on vacation in the Black Hills to visit all of the amazing things here in this state. Our adventure for the day was Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Highway and Custer State Park Scenic Drive. We were on our way back from the day and decided to let the kids pick a place to eat for the night. They wanted PIZZA!! Google searched pizza places and we decided on Pauly's Pizzeria. Being able to view the menu online is great due to my family being amazingly picky! We liked how the menu had a variety of some other things then just pizza. We ordered cheese curds and garlic knots with marinara (those were so yummy!!!) for starters. We highly recommend the chicken alfredo pizza!! For our family that was the favorite! One thing to know is when you come in you order at the counter. I guess just from looking at the menu online I assumed it was sit down and order. It was no way a big deal though. The ordering went very smoothly once everyone decided on what they wanted. Taking a family of 5 out to eat is really not too cheap but eating here it came out to be $10.00 per person with a fountain drink which gets a thumbs up by me!! Food came out really fast for everything being made to order and all of the staff was super nice! My family was happy and full...
