Lovely restaurant! Will definitely come back! When I first showed up, the staff seemed relatively confused when I first entered and I did not feel welcome at first. From the confused looks on the staff's faces, I briefly wondered if maybe I was underdressed or if they didn't have a dedicated server on the schedule yet, but someone eventually took the initiative to greet and seat me and all was well. As soon as I sat down, I was offered drinks before I was able to look at a menu, so I assume the person who served me (Santiago) was more used to being a bartender -- however, very friendly and attentive service from him and the others who served me. The bread was so soft; light and airy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I was obsessed. The little disposable things of whipped butter were odd and made me feel wasteful; I would have liked to have a slice of butter or something on the side instead. Might help their food cost and it looks more presentable. I got a red sangria, which is not on their drink menu but I saw it everywhere in the reviews so I had to get one. Sangria was very yummy with little pieces of plum and orange, and chilled. Well balanced. It was the perfect portion size for me as well. Escargot and shrimp special was delicious. Very hot, and the shrimp was perfect. So juicy and popped in my mouth. Escargot was soft and melted in my mouth, not rubbery in the slightest. Flavourful, comforting, fresh sauce. Love the fresh garlic and herbs. Perfectly seasoned and refreshing. Brought out the perfect earthiness in the escargot. I love that the garlic had the slightest bit of bite to it -- perfect for this dish! I thought it was weird to have the parsley garnish with such long stems, but maybe that's a personal preference. I love that they kept the escargot in the shell. Beautiful for playing and presentation and fun because it makes it more tactile of an experience! As for the atmosphere, the linen folds are beautiful. The blue lighting is odd - stuck out to me as it doesn't really fit with the rest of the theme in my opinion. I love the paper doilies served with everything. So so cute and made me feel like I was at a Spanish grandmother's home. Perfect for the brand of what they were doing, whether their brand is intended to be comforting or not. I was treated very friendly and politely, and I was acknowledged every time someone passed me, which made me feel welcome and made the service feel very attentive. It made me feel like I could ask anything at any time and never be a bother. The Paella flavour was cozy, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The peas looked and tasted a bit like they were cooked from freezer burnt peas. The rice was the perfect tenderness and ripe with brothy flavour. I couldn't taste too much of the saffron, but no blame bc saffron is expensive and it's relatively mild anyway. I will happily overlook this bc of the state of the economy right now. I love that they served it in the pan it was cooked in, and that the whole lobster is in there. Preserves the flavour and texture and makes excellent use of the shell for the flavour of the dish as a whole! Excellent cohesiveness in the dish overall. The chicken pieces in there were slightly overcooked, which made them a bit dry. Lobster showed signs of being overcooked, and it was a bit tough, but it tasted fine. Paella may have also been dying in the window slightly because I eat really slow. Crema catalana was delicious. Lightly sweet, delicate, not too rich. Like a creme brulee, but more spiced than vanilla and a thinner brulee shell. Custard is more liquidy than a creme brulee (made with while milk instead of heavy cream?). Because of this, the brulee shell slid around a bit instead of crunching down when I cut into it. Custard almost tasted very lightly herby on the backnote, but idk what it is. I would have liked some berries and mint or some kind of garnish with it. Thank you for everything! I will...
Read moreAh, the highly rated Spain 92… such a disappointment. where should I even start?.. Well, let’s start with what was pleasant about this experience. For starters, the atmosphere and decoration inside the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and gives a very cozy and old school Spain feeling. Stuffed mushrooms and Rack of Lamb Sauce is delicious.
Now onto the bad. First, I must say the server I had is extremely rude and was drinking on the job. He was too busy counting his money to come around and ask if everything was alright or if anything else was needed. In fact, when I wanted to add more things to my order, he forgot and I had to remind him again. Id tell him I want to add another entree to eat and he said okay then went back to counting his money. Eventually forgetting until I told him again. BTW: I was the ONLY customer in the whole restaurant.. Also I ordered extra scallops and never received it.
For appetizers I ordered Clams with green sauce: 1/5 Sauce is extremely watery and very bland Clams were very small despite the size of their shell. Big rip off Fried calamari: 4/5 Classic fried calamari, you can’t really mess this up. Squid tasted fresh and was fried to perfection. Stuffed mushrooms: 4.2/5 Large mushrooms stuffed and covered with sauce. This was the best thing I ate there out of everything I ordered ( including entrees ) Highly recommend.
For entrees I got Rack of Lamb: 3.4/5 The sauce was absolutely amazing, if it weren’t for the sauce, this dish would’ve gotten a 2 rating. The sauce really came in clutch and pulled everything together. Mashed potatoes came out cold, veggies seem like they were just throw onto the plate. Paella Valencia: 0/5 Absolutely THE WORST paella I’ve ever eaten in my life. The whole dish tasted like.. like nothing! Either they over measured the amount of rice or they under seasoned or both! because everything was extremely bland! I couldn’t believe it.. the main star of a Spanish restaurant, Paella, a fluke?! Clam and mussel shells are broken into sharp jagged pieces making it difficult to eat. The size of the meat from the clams and mussels were minuscule. Scallops were over cooked, hard and chewy like rubber. Lobster was bland and the shrimps…… were ROCK hard! The rice tasted literally like WHITE rice… I can’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. How are they selling this and who is actually buying this?… I picked out all the seafood and packed all the rice to go. Ended up feeding it to birds the next day. Don’t waste food!
Im extremely disappointed with my experience at Spain92. The bar was set high for this experience. From rude, inattentive waiter, to overpriced bland food. I must say that I will not be...
Read moreI came here with some friends. We were seated right away. I immediately ordered a pitcher of their Red Sangria. It was really good, and well balanced with apples, peaches, lemons, and oranges in it.I wound up getting two pitchers. Spain 92 does have a full bar.You can even eat there if you choose. There is also some high hats in the bar area. Fresh hot rolls were put on the table with butter. All the tables have white linen table cloths on them. It's a very relaxed and casual atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The owner walks around and he checks on everyone. He was extremely friendly and welcoming. His family comes from Spain and he’s been in the business for years. They do Corporate Events and All kinds of parties. For Appetizers I started with CHORIZOS ESPAÑOLES grilled Chorizo with peppers, It was good. I also ordered CAMARONES AL AJILLO Garlic Shrimp. If you like garlic then this is the appetizer to get. I like to dip my bread in the sauce. It's very garlicky. For my Entree I ordered MARISCADA SPAIN 92 in Green Sauce. My dish had lobster, shrimp, clams, and mussels in a salsa verde sauce. I prefer it over the optional red sauce. On the side came a dish of yellow rice and fried potatoes. The potatoes were similar to thick fried potato chips. My Boyfriend ordered ARROZ CON POLLO- Chicken and Rice. He really enjoyed it and got two full meals out of it. My other friend ordered their TERNERA SPAIN 92 veal cutlets, stuffed with ham and cheese prepared in a sherry wine and lemon sauce. My friend really liked it.His wife ordered FILET MIGNON SPAIN 92 sliced filet with shrimp in a brandy sauce. She loved her dish. For Dessert I ordered a FLAN. Everyone was full so I only ordered one dessert. The flan was creamy and delicious. The caramel truly makes the dish. I would suggest getting a flan for each person. It is a perfect ending to a...
