I love little diners with a retro vibe, mom and pop shops, and a good breakfast. Our server was very sweet and personable, though she was quite loudly airing her personal matters to a coworker in the dining area for all to hear to the point it was distracting. The aesthetic was fine... I enjoyed the Ravenna memorabilia. My main issues are the food and the choices on pricing. Our bottle of hot sauce had a ton of dried gunk which looked to be molding around the spout and all over the top. This is not sanitary, and having worked in restaurants I know this is not up to code. We also know for a fact a lot of our meal was microwaved, having witnessed this directly. I paid $60 after tip for our meals for two people. The food was albeit not very generous on portion sizes but it was acceptable for what the establishment is, yet the prices are more what a fine dining establishment charges when they're home baking their own breads, grinding their own sausages, etc. I am totally fine with a kitschy, grungy, diner meal, but not if the prices don't align.
Edit: You are not in competition with fine dining. Sorry.
Stars deducted for service for the owner being a jerk. The purpose of my review is to give honest feedback of my experience to help others who we trying to decide where to go. You are immature and defensive and dishonest (I'm not an idiot. Your microwave is right around the corner from the counter. The waitress went back there with gravy. Came out without it for a couple minutes. It beeped. She went back, came out with sausage gravy. It was clearly a different -scorching- temperature from the rest of the dish. If that wasn't microwaved, you have an excellent ability to recreate microwaved food experience).
I'm happy to provide you some recommendations for quality restaurants with culinary training where you can experience what actual competition with appropriate pricing for the product tastes like. You clearly haven't left Ravenna and would benefit from some immersive exposure to cuisine.
Calm down. Learn. Grown. Stop being arrogant and defensive. No one wants to patron somewhere that attacks its customers....especially with lies. Have a...
Read moreMy husband & I visited the Horseshoe Diner in Ravenna, OH for the first today. The diner is very clean & has a hometown feel. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & were advised we could sit any where we would like. For a breakfast & lunch diner, I felt there were enough choices without feeling overwhelmed. The food selections were more of the simple kind, which we love, and they even had their own creations. We both got a double cheeseburger with fries. The double cheeseburgers were huge (1/3 pound patties) and they were very good. They were thoroughly cooked without being rubbery. The side of fries were plentiful. We both left stuffed. The lady waitress & gentleman were very nice & accommodating. Both asked us how our food was & told us not to rush & take our time (they were getting ready to close). It is so nice to go somewhere and be treated nicely & with a smile. You can tell they take pride in their business & it shows! That type of service is hard to come by. You definitely get what you pay for and more. Thank you, Horseshoe Diner, for giving us such a positive experience & providing delicious food. We plan to be...
