Stoneforge Tavern & Publick House – Updated Review 📍 90 Paramount Dr, Raynham, MA 02767
Stoneforge Tavern & Publick House continues to offer a refined yet relaxed dining experience, blending upscale ambiance with comfort and familiarity. I’ve visited multiple times, and while some impressions hold steady, this most recent visit deserves a fresh perspective.
We arrived on a busy Thursday evening around 7 p.m. and were seated right away—no wait, even during peak hours. The setting was just as expected: calm, well-kept, and quietly elegant.
To start, I ordered a cup of their New England clam chowder. I wanted the bowl—believe me—but I’ve learned that a full serving is so rich, so filling, it easily becomes the meal. Even in a cup, it remains the best chowder I’ve ever had. Creamy, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Still perfect.
For my main, I returned to the bacon mac & cheese, a dish I’ve tried before. This time, though, it impressed me more. After a minor slip (it arrived without the bacon), the staff promptly and professionally corrected the mistake, with sincere apologies and great communication. No excuses, no attitude—just good service. And the bacon? Thick, savory cubes that added a hearty, smoky richness. I ate half and was perfectly content. The rest disappeared from the fridge the next day.
My wife enjoyed the gluten-sensitive bourbon turkey tips, served with the dipping sauce on the side. While the meal was satisfying overall, she had some concern that the bourbon sauce may have contained gluten. Nothing confirmed—just a note of caution for those with sensitivities.
As has been consistent in previous visits, the drink service remains slow. We ordered sodas, and they took about five minutes to arrive—not terrible, but for non-alcoholic beverages, it always seems longer than it should.
In summary, Stoneforge remains one of the strongest dining options in Raynham. From their legendary clam chowder to the now truly enjoyable mac & cheese, the food consistently hits the mark. A few service quirks remain, but the overall experience is still one of comfort, quality, and care.

I went out with my girlfriend and parents for my mom’s birthday, and I won’t be going back again.
For an appetizer, I ordered the scallops and bacon. I think they forgot the bacon, to be honest, as I couldn't taste it much. The scallops themselves were like dry shells of what once were scallops. For an entree, I ordered a strip steak with lobster meat. I think it was the toughest cut of meat I’ve had. Very little flavor, not seasoned at all. It came with mashed potatoes that were very mediocre, and veggies, which were good. The lobster was fishy, soaked in butter (not a compliment), and tasteless. I think it was second grade and certainly not cut off a lobster that night by the restaurant.
My girlfriend ordered lobster bisque as an appetizer, and it was actually decent; however, it was lacking something I can’t quite put my finger on. For an entree, she got the butternut ravioli, drenched in sauce and overly sweet, very much relying on the cream sauce for flavor.
My mother got the crab cake for an appetizer, which was actually decent, but nothing to write home about. My father got the stuffed mushrooms, which I didn’t try, but he seemed to like them, so I’ll give those a pass.
My parents both got the crab-stuffed cod for an entree, which was also decent; but I think any place worth its salt in Plymouth or on the cape would have blown it out of the water (pun not intended).
For dessert, we all got the mousse; except my girlfriend, who got the crème brûlée. All of which were good, although difficult to screw up.
And we all got a drink; they were all fine.
A quick mention of the service: it was good but god-awfully slow.
The restaurant offers a 3-course menu with a head price of $34, a little low, I think, for an upscale establishment, and I certainly wouldn’t pay that much for what I ate. With a standard tip, the bill was $250, much more expensive than I would expect for the quality of food (or lack thereof).

I ordered the Appke, Cranberries Chicken salad sandwich with a side salad. My gf ordered a chicken BLT wrap with banana peppers, a Ceasars side salad and scallops n bacon appetizer.
We were asked uf there were any allergies. I didn't order anything that I'm allergic to, but said I have a walnut and coconut allergy.
When our appetizer arrived the guy said loudly...Allergy to Walnuts n Coconut...we laughed Cuz we've never heard my allergies announced like that.
My gfs lunch arrived first. No banana peppers- it had an abundance of red peppers though. Her side salad had chicken on it. Tge woman said she would go find my lunch.
When it arrived I realized there were no apples in the apple & cranberry chicken salad...oh well.
We ordered 2 more sangrias...they didn't come. We ordered again as well as takeout containers.
Our server said she told the manager everything, but he was sitting with another employee and didn't want to come talk to us.
At a time when you have less than 70% capacity, it is IMPERATIVE that you TALK with the CUSTOMER. They CHOSE not to. That pisses me off! We didn't want anything for free, we wanted to find out why the kitchen couldn't get our simple orders correct and nake sure they corrected it. I also wanted to know WHY they had to announce my allergies to the entire outdoor area.
I also realized the table behind me was seated less than 2' from my chair.(we were back to back, if I had to get up, I would have hit his chair..2 people at a table for 4) They should have been offered to sit on the opposite side or elsewhere on the patio. SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!
Like I said, I'm not one to go out...THIS IS WHY! If you can't get an order correct, not bother to come talk to your customers and then top it off by not properly social distancing...then just dont do it!
$75 +tip for lunch and ignored by the manager....NOPE...NOT GONNA GO BACK!
They only allow POSITIVE reviews on...
