Rancho Alegre — Restaurant in Redding

My wife and I ate at Rancho Alegre for the first time the other night. Fantastic on every count! My primary Mexican cuisine experience was when I lived not far from the border in Tucson, Az for years but Rancho Alegre beats everything I've eaten before. Very sociable and welcoming, totally casual so wear your jeans. Reservations over the phone are accepted. When you get there say hi to Ron and Mercedes, our wonderful servers and our amazing chef, Arturo.Bring your appetites because the portions are generous and although we had no room for desert we were told that Mercede's Flan is unbelievable. Georgetown mainstay, or at least that is what a 20 year veteran told us. Apparently under new ownership but the staff and quality of the food are on point.

We've been back twice and have really enjoyed everything from the shrimp flautas to the steak fajitas. The kids have tried the burritos and enchiladas and so far we haven't been disappointed.

I have gone to rancho alegre since I was a child. I heard they changed ownership but it was still just as good as always. We had a party of 10 reserved on friday, and were kindly waited on the whole evening. We stayed after closing time chatting, and the owner was funny and made jokes with our group.
