Let’s talk about the positive first. My Brother and I went in on Saturday Sept 10th at 4:30. I new nothing about the place and the 49er football history. The young blonde kid behind the counter was very kind, but you could tell he was stressed because there was no other staff to help him behind the counter he informed me. So I tipped him $10 just to pay it forward. He told me all about the owner and the 49er football connection. But I’m not a sports fan, so I don’t care. I ordered the ribs, my Brother ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Big disappointment. I’m pretty sure they just microwave things. There’s no smell of food cooking. As a matter of fact it smelled like a very old establishment, as did the bathroom. My ribs were lukewarm and soaked in BBQ sauce, a pathetic green side salad with a tired looking slice of tomato and bell pepper on top. Along with a side of tasteless potato salad swimming in sour cream/ mayonnaise. Even the carbonation on the soda machine was flat. My Brothers Spaghetti was just as pathetic. It looked like it was warmed in a microwave. He said it tasted like Spaghetti O’s. The place is obviously resting on their laurels because of their 49er fans I guess. But all in all, the food was terrible, the place smelled dirty and the bathroom smelled like urine. The owner is obviously burned out and doesn’t care about food quality or...
Read moreThis place is unique for sure. I felt like the Griswalds must have eaten here a few times. It is an interesting change of pace from all the other cookie cutter restaurants around here. Some things you need to know. There are more parking spots in the lot than meet the eye. When you go in, you seat yourself. There are no waitresses, you need to go order at the counter. All this was very confusing to us. We also had to bus our own table from the previous people’s meal. I have to admit, I was skeptical at this point. Ordered some burgers and fries and they came out very quickly, making me even more skeptical. They were great though. We were all very happy with the food, the ice cold half pitcher of beer and the fries were great. The kids love the soda machine and games and one of the kids spilled a whole drink and no one even noticed. This place is not fancy, but we really enjoyed it as a Dad and kids night out. We will be back and this time not look like noobs.
Got the Cheesesteak and while the ingredients were all great, they cut all the way through the roll, so it was impossible to eat. They need to do it right and use the roll to...
Read more5/22/23: Good BBQ Sandwich, but friend's Reuben seemed like store bought meat, and felt quite let down, as most items we've had here are equal or better than at other shops. Removing 1 star for the Reuben.
Previous: LOVE the history and ambience of this place. Looks like they ADD an additional menu every 10 years, so there are 5 different menu boards on the walls in this establishment. I've posted them all so you know what's current.
I'm a Blue Swiss Burger fan. HINT: Order a side of fries, and start working on them while the burger cools. After 5 minutes or so, the blue and swiss will gel, making the burger much easier to eat. Otherwise, the pair of cheeses cause the top of the bun to slide....until cool. 4.5 stars. Ventilation could be better, but probably the same as it was...
