This is a slice shop with counter service and a couple tables. No frills takeout, and easily the best slices on the Peninsula. I love this place and stop in multiple times per week for a few slices. I really like the Brooklyn and the pesto slice, my kids love the cheese, which holds up, but I've had them all and they are all good. Crust has a perfect crunch. They also have Kern's drinks which are delicious and hard to find.
However, the prices are high and it's virtually impossible to get a whole pie - like, you need to order a month in advance and then they will still probably call and cancel your order. It's so bad it's laughable at this point, and I kind of think they want it that way. Can't tell you how many times I've tried to call in and there's either no answer, or they answer and say they're sold out, so I just end up going in and buying 8 slices. Forget ever ordering on Doordash, they really shouldn't even be on there. Literally every time I've placed an order they've cancelled it five minutes later with no explanation.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO ORDER A WHOLE PIZZA! NOT ONCE! NOT EVER!
I'm not sure if they are under staffed or need a bigger oven, but you'd think that a pizza place would want to sell more pizza, and figure out how to make...
Read moreI've been going to this place for years. Recently this place has gone down the tubes.
My last visit I ordered a meal there and was overcharged, they fixed this issue after I had to point to the menu above the register to tell them the price of their own food. After our food came out I found a piece of plastic in my pizza. I handed it back to them and they took it into back and brought me a new slice... Except they didn't put a new slice in the oven, they just pulled the trash out and brought back the same slice. When confronted about it, the worker that brought it back out said that the food with trash was on a table in the back but I couldn't see it. After he was called out on it, HE LIED and told me it was in the trash... Not in the back like he previously had been called out on.
All in all the pizza is great but due to unprofessional behavior from the staff, I would recommend going to San Carlos where the employees won't argue about food price, serve garbage or LIE...
Read moreThis is one of the few bay area pizzerias that give that true New York pizza experience. No gritty cornmeal in the crust is one of the reasons. This crust has that certain crispness when bitten that says "New York", and is hard to explain. ---it exists more when you order it the re-heated by-the-slice way. Not so much when you buy a whole pie and allow it to steam away at itself in the cardboard pizza box. I guess this is partly true because you hardly ever see a person in New York walking on the streets or getting on the crowded subway carrying an entire pizza pie in a box, do you?
Still don't know what I mean? Try it....
