We make several trips to the dunes every year and Double D’s has always been our favorite place to go. This past weekend we went in and recognized no one. All the regulars were gone. We sat there for at least 20-30 minutes before I finally got up and went to the bar to order our beers. She said she would have them right out. We sat & waited and waited and so I went up to the bar again! She said you didn’t get your beers? I said no she gave them to someone else. She chewed the girl out right in front of everyone at the bar. The girl wasn’t taking orders she was only delivering drinks. Seemed very confused. Finally got to order some food & asked what was going on, all our regulars were gone! She said “we fired them all” Oh looks like you need them back. 1 person working the bar & the tables? service was TERRIBLE! . I ordered the seafood platter. It’s always my go too. Prices have increased for sure! I got this tiny little plate with small portions. The halibut was the size of my pinky finger. 2 small sticks. I asked her doesn’t this come with toast & coleslaw? It use to? She said oh I don’t know why they didn’t give you toast but we are out of coleslaw! Should have said that at the time I ordered or offered a salad instead. Didn’t adjust our bill for the 2 missing items and the small portions was not worth $28.95. Erin use to run the bar & her staff was amazing. There were always at least 3 of them working and they were right on top of it. So friendly we looked forward to seeing them. Disappointed &...
Read moreWas visiting the area over the weekend and Double D's was suggested by a few locals. Great! Except when we went it was around dinner time and busy. AS Soon as I opened the door, The screaming started. It wasn't "sorry folks but we full and we won't be able to seat you for 15 to 30 minutes." It was "WE'RE FULL" in a loud accusatory tone. Then she turned and walked out of the room. The place is rather small and with the restrictions I get it but the "lady" (ha) was pretty rude about it. After waiting for a moment to see if she would return so I could ask a simple question like if they were going to be full for the rest of the night, we went around and went through the door to the bar area..Same thing as soon as I opened that door, except I got the scream from two ladies even louder. All I was asking was if we could order a cocktail and if there was a wait time. I was screamed at from 10 to 40 minutes, there was no wait, no cocktail. I felt I should feel ashamed or embarrassed for being there but instead I was was very disgusted. I get the short staffing, it's everywhere but a little better attitude would have gone a lot further and maybe I would have returned to try Double D's but the taste is pretty foul there. We walked to another local restaurant which was also rather busy and were greated as almost family....
Read moreWe were just passing through when my boyfriend, a friend and I wanted some fish and chips so I called ahead of time so we could just pick up our food and head out, I was told that it would be ready in 10 minutes and we were only about 8 minutes away, when we got there we ended up waiting another 10 minutes just for them to have me pay and then another 5 until I was handed my food. When we first walked in the waitress looked at us like we were crazy? She seemed upset that we were there. My friend even commented and said it’s obviously a clique type of bar and it was clear we weren’t welcome, my friend asked where the bathroom was and the lady just said “over there” as she walked away which still didn’t help. It is a cute little pub though... the food though not so much. It was almost $40 ($36.90) for 2 orders of the fish and chips, usually I wouldn’t complain but it was cod and not halibut which is usually the higher priced fish. and it tasted a bit fishy not in a good way like it was frozen not fresh, even thought I could go swim in the ocean about 30 ft away. there wasn’t much food either :(. (I took the picture a little after but I made a sandwich out of toast and one of the fish pieces and I hadn’t eaten anything...
