Southern Maid Donuts — Restaurant in Reno

This USED to be hands down the best shop in town. Since it switched owners to a young man its mediocre at best. The old owners when we came in and they were out of a certain croissant (ham egg cheese) and only had a different flavor they would run to the back and fix you one up. The new one will not. He runs out of everything before 9am and doesn't restock loosing sales and business. As we have been customers there for about the last 10 years so when it switched owners we gave several chances. Last weekend they were out of items again so they lost all of our business. They weren't out of 1 thing. They were out of everything but donuts and barely had them. The food has also went downhill. For example changed to 1 piece of ham instead of 2 on croissant, bacon was not cooked very well on another, etc. I hate leaving a semi negative review and would love to know if it starts getting better again. This donut shop never disappoints! The classic glazed donut is out of this world—light, fluffy, and with just the right amount of sweetness in the glaze. It’s the kind of donut that keeps you coming back. I also have to shout out the jalapeño kolache, which has the perfect mix of heat and flavor wrapped in soft, warm dough. Absolutely delicious.

Awesome jalapeño kolaches, quick drive-thru, friendly, fast service & affordable. Stopped here frequently while Mom was in a neighboring nursing home (on 47th St) for 4 years.
