Denny's — Restaurant in Rice Lake

I have never felt the need to write a review before today, but boy do the I have the story for you... This was supposed to be a cute midnight snack run for me and my girls but turned in to a mid-night NIGHTMARE!!!! Our server seemed like a down-to-earth guy at first and it was very nice that he seated us almost instantly. But when taking our drink order, our tatted up ginger waiter made a comment that A. he would not be able to fill our drink requests because the cups for the milkshakes were dirty or broken... or B. the other drink options we requested from the menu just simply did not exist in the restaurant. I understand how a drink being out of stock isn't the servers fault, but the laziness (of not wanting to wash 1 cup for a milkshake) as well as the attitude given with responses, really was not professional. Unprofessionalism is a common theme of me and my friends visit to this place. While putting in a food order, half of the items (not those specific time items listed on the the menu) were also missing. A list of things that our server said were missing were: mac n' cheese, onion rings, diced potato's, mashed potatoes etc. As an apology he used the words "Yeah, sorry. This place f** sucks. I would only eat food here if I was high. AND WHICH I AM." And proceeded to pull out his vape and hit it while taking our order. And all respect flew out the window at that point. Our food took an hour to come out, didn't come out at the same time (one person was done before anyone else had their food), and there were a handful of mistakes. We asked for ranch (and got blue cheese with some yellow-ish film on top.. and got 6 boneless wings (instead of the promised 10). Drinks went unrefilled for long periods of time (considering we were there for 2 hours)... Another table of 4 that came about half way through our experience had ordered and gotten their food in about 10 minutes... We were checked up on maybe 1 or 2 times throughout the whole 2 hours and had to ask for our boxes after we had already paid. Overall, this was the most uncomfortable of an experience I have ever had from an eating establishment. Service was unprofessional, everything was out of stock, and it was FAR TOO OVERPRICED for the crappy experience we just got! If you are looking for a spot to eat, do yourself a favor and...

We'll be waiting a few months before going back, hopefully long enough for them to get their stuff together. We've gone twice recently. The first time we went around 9 pm for a late breakfast. We were seated immediately, didn't wait long for our food, and the food was good - typical Denny's breakfast. However, when we went to check out, we waited 15 minutes because no one was up front. During that time, 5 more parties joined the line: 2 to check out and the rest to be seated. When the front desk person came out front, she just seemed annoyed that we were all waiting and it just became a cluster. Whatever.

Well, we went again for dinner the following day at around 7 PM. Our table was greasy and dirty and there was food all over the floor. When I ordered my food, they were out of it - but they didn't tell me until about 5 minutes after we had ordered, so our meals were cooked at different times. Our appetizer was really good. The ranch was not good - unless you like water flavored ranch. When we got our food, my burger was legitimately RAW. It was straight mush in the middle and you could still see all the white sinew stringy bits. They forgot part of our order and then tried to charge us for it. To make up for everything, they gave us a free slice of cheesecake and when asking, I said no strawberries on top... guess what was on top.

The staff was nice and helpful and I could tell they were frustrated by all the issues. What food wasn't raw, was good - again, typical Danny's food. We'll go back, but we're just going to wait until they get more in the groove and know how to run...

I've been there three times. The first time, they had just opened, the service was slow, but I figured it was due to them just opening. Food was good when we finally got it. The second time about 3 months later, we stopped for lunch and again, service was very slow but we eventually got our food which was cold, but at least we got it. Today, which was Father's day, we stopped by because there was only a few cars there to have breakfast. We were seated right away and were asked what we wanted for drinks which was a water, cup of coffee, and a diet coke.In the meantime, two other tables came in and they were treated the same way. The waitress took orders from these two tables first, left and came back to us 20 minutes later with our drinks and to take our order. After getting to get her understand what we wanted, we waited another 20 minutes for refills to our drinks. In the meantime, a party of 5 kids came in and sat at the counter. The waitress by that time had gotten the food to the other tables and took the order from the kids. After another 20 minutes, the waitress brought a platter of food to us, but it was nothing that we ordered. She took it back and returned with the order for the kids. My daughter had just went to the front to see where our order was and I lost it and got up to leave. Upon arriving at the counter, we were informed that our order wasn't even placed. Three strikes and you're out. I never go back to that...
