Dunning's Gourmet Market & Deli — Restaurant in Rich Township

I learned about this place 2 years ago. The selection of meats and cheeses are great. However, some of the food is not seasoned good. I paid 15 bucks for a steak at their out door event last year and it was terrible. The past two years the place has gone down. A colleague of mine got burnt salmon from them before. Prices have gone up and portions are smaller now. I do understand the pandemic and inflation are factors. Some of the staff seem like they have a problem understanding and taking orders. A bunch of kids who play around and don't take their job serious. I'm all for hiring young people but they should go through an extensive training on how to deal with customers. The owner is mean, heartless, and careless. I feel it is time for them to go and give another business their space. There is nothing special about this place. Any other Deli will do because it's the only Deli in downtown Flossmoor. Most people here won't tell the truth. I know I'm speaking for a lot of people who are afraid to...

I called today, 8/13/2024 for a takeout order. Salmon Salad. I was placed on hold for an extended period of time. I hung up and called back, to get a very unprofessional male attempting to take my order, he then hung up without order confirmation. Again, I called back, same male answered, I then asked for the manager, and was hung up on. I then went to pick up my order. I have always enjoyed their food, especially the Salmon salad. But this day, the customer service and the quality of the salad was totally unacceptable. The service I received was at an all time low, and the salmon was burnt, tasteless, dry, and hard as a brick. I’ve lived in this community for over 35 years, and have always patronized this restaurant, I do believe in keeping the money in the community, But, I never received the lack of service and poor quality of food that I received from this establishment...

Cute spot with a delicious chicken salad sandwich. The staff was friendly and it was pretty bustling on a Wednesday during lunch. Most people were in for take out but there’s nice seating in and out of the shop.

The prices were a bit high in my opinion, especially for the coffees. For two people to have the chicken salad sandwich and coffee with oat milk and vanilla flavoring, the bill was over $40. The vanilla didn’t particularly come through that well so it seemed like a waste of the $2 upcharge. There aren’t prices on the chalkboard menu either so it’s a bit of a surprise when the total is being calculated.

I wish I would have seen the drink cooler off to the side, I would have liked to try the lemonade. I thought they only had coffee or tea for their beverage options.
