We hosted a baby shower at Chocolate Angel Richardson, in the Chantilly room. It was a great experience for us hosts and all the guests. We chose the high tea service and reserved the room for 2 hours.
Ambience: The Chantilly room is quaint and cozy with Victorian décor. It can hold up to 16 people, but with 9 people, we found it comfortable with space for our handbags and used a two-person table for cake. (4 tables – 6/4/4/2 seating). Only complaint is that they didn’t have many photos of the room online, so had to go in person to judge that – but it worked out well. We also played some games, so made sense to reserve a private room.
Food: They were great in accommodating a full vegetarian menu (contains eggs and dairy). They had about 6 options for the meal – small sandwiches and tarts, with fresh fruit. The cucumber sandwich and the pimento cheese sandwich are amazing! The 3 desserts were delicious.
Teas: We chose the two caffeine free options – orange for the meal, and the toasted almond for dessert. They were heavenly! Wonderful teas – aromatic and tasty.
Service: The host/waitress Kendra was wonderful – very attentive and great service. We were socializing for the first half hour, so they were considerate enough to wait for us to get seated and start serving the first course. They were constantly refilling our teas, as the party host, I didn’t have to worry about anything.
Bakery extras: We also ordered a cake from the bakery few days in advance – showed them our inspiration photograph – they were okay to decorate as we liked. We got our own flowers and cake topper, and they made the cake look very beautiful. It was delicious – decadent chocolate and would order...
Read moreWish I could say different, but it was a disappointment. I made a reservation for a bridal party and paid a deposit for a private room. When my guests arrived they were to all the wrong places, and when we all figured out where we were supposed to be - they had already sat people in the room. The same room I paid a deposit for, by the way. As they were removing those people, they finally let us in and all we see are crumbs everywhere, coffee on all the tables, and water on the ground. Cut to being 25 minutes into the time frame I paid for, we had not been helped. The lady in the front of the building just watched us go in and didn’t help us. I had to go outside and find someone 30 minutes into being there. Finally a lady comes to help and she seemed stressed and mentioned that they were short staffed, with what looked like 4 people working for a HUGE place with big parties. She didn’t have our food menu (which I had sent 3 days prior) and I had to re order everyone’s food. Some of my guests go their food but didn’t have utensils/drinks. We kept having to ask for things because they weren’t attending us. It was like they gave us the food and wanted us leave them alone - even though we paid for service from a waitress. My bill was 600+ and I got bad service. I’m sure you will too for a $20! Spend...
Read moreWe recently hosted an event at this place with 32 people. The atmosphere was nice, and the staff was very friendly. In the end, my guests had a very good time.
However, here were my personal grievances. 10 of us were "working" the event by entertaining our patrons and walking around talking to them. Because we were not at our seats the whole time, our tea cups were never refilled. The majority of my staff never got to try the dessert tea we had ordered, because when we did have time to go back, our empty tea cups were never refilled. Even when I went to the back to ask for them to fill them, they only filled the cups of three people who were waiting around, when I requested the entire table be filled so they could come back to a drink. Also our waters were never refilled.
Also, in comparison to other tea parlors we have been to and hosted our event at, the food here was simply not as good as others we have held events at. One of our frequent clients found egg shell bits in their sandwich. However, the price is decent and on the lower end of many other tea parlors you can experience in DFW, so if you are looking for something that your guests can afford easily, this is it.
I would like to have my group back to host events there, but at the moment my impression wasn't the best to continue...
