Nico's Tex-Mex Cantina — Restaurant in Richardson

If I could give zero stars I would. We recently moved to the area so we’ve eaten here a few times. One time we found a mosquito in our to go food & I gave them the benefit of the doubt so we gave them another chance. Our food was good sometimes but the consistency was off. Tonight was the final straw. We tried to order things we regularly get there and was told we couldn’t. When I explained that we’ve done it in the past, I was told our server was the manager and the other servers should’ve never done that for us. He agreed to do what we were asking but told us we would be charged an up charge even though the items were the same price.

Then we ordered 2 meals & an enchilada. One of my meals didn’t come out and we had to reorder it. Then when it came out, it was supposed to be brisket & it definitely did not taste like it was. So we ended up with some mystery meat that was supposed to be brisket, the carnitas were extremely fatty & the fajita chicken on my enchilada was completely dry.

When I told the manager about the issues we had & how disappointed we were with the food, He nonchalantly said sorry and then turned around and charged almost $50 after the upcharge. I couldn’t believe that this is how the manager handles these types of issues.

Today I went in for the first time. I was excited to go due to the reviews but sadly it didn’t add too all the buzz online.First off there’s no more mimosa specials on Sunday (which was okay to me since I didn’t know about it until our waiter today flatly stated “we don’t do the mimosa special anymore”) and I was like “ahhhh okay I was just going to ask if y’all had mimosa, thanks! Any who after that he didn’t seem to really be around for us which I’d understand if it was a busy restaurant but it was not. I understand that the waiter was most likely new but it was annoying to hear things like “ohhhh that water is only for customers (he eventually let me have water once he realized I was a paying customer)…. When clearly I was your customer for the past 2 hours….again harmlesss just annoying tho. Like someone just needs to teach him “hey that’s not professional to say in person” Any who even after all that I felt bad for the waiter even tho I hadn’t done anything malicious. Food wise I’ve only been here once and only have had their chilaquiles and most of their brunch alcoholic drinks and most their bruch alcoholic drinks were weak. Now the margaritas….. those were strong 👌 but based off chilaquiles, goodness meh .werent the best chilaquiles but...

The last two times I’ve eaten at this restaurant I’ve gotten extremely sick. My coworker as well. Got sick last Tuesday and today like myself. I called to speak to a manager, but managers not on duty today. So I’m leaving my review. Be careful what you eat because you might get Montezuma‘s revenge. I have never gotten so sick like I did last Tuesday and today. My work colleague had to go home today last week she barely made it through the day. We normally went every single entire Tuesday for taco Tuesday for lunch. As time is going on, the service has gotten worse. We’re not allocated to take an hour and 15 minute lunch. There were only two tables and we were one of them. I’ll be calling back tomorrow to deal with the manager if he’s even there. But be very careful what you eat at this restaurant because you might end up being extremely sick with no recourse. it used to be a fantastic place a year ago, and for the past 48 weeks that I’ve gone with the service has gotten worse and obviously the food is not up to par being sick two weeks in a row. The only thing safe to eat right now is just the chips and salsa. And you’re lucky if you get a refill...
