Betsy Hay Moyer 3 hrs · This is very unusual for me to do but has upset me still today - after talking to my son this morning and realizing how much this upset them too I've decided to share it to facebook as well as google. Here is what I put on Yelp regarding Kathy's Country Kitchen on 309 in Quakertown. No one deserves to me treated this way in front of their family including young children. It was uncalled for and ended our amazing weekend with a bad note. We should have gotten up and walked out!!!
I hesitate to write this review but feel I should. The food was delicious and portions very large. Our waitress was very nice and took good care of us. I had called a couple days ahead of coming to make a reservation as I knew we had a large group (my kids were all home to celebrate a bridal shower and my husbands 60th) so wanted to be courteous and not arrive with 10 and a highchair to be seated. I was told they don't usually do reservations for Sundays but would try (was not the owner). I told them that was fine. The day before I received a call to verify the reservation and was told by the owner they don't usually take reservations and I told her that was fine, if they couldn't do it, no problem. She told me they would do their best as long as we weren't planning to spend an extended period of time there. I assured her it was just the family having breakfast so a normal time frame for that. Rounding up 10 people and a baby to get out the door can be a challenge and we were about 15 minutes late although part of our party was there. What upsets me is the attitude given to my son and his wife who arrived first, that we weren't all there and this was an imposition for them. He told me about that right when we got there and I could clearly see it upset them so I wanted to apologize to the owner. I called her over to the table to apologize for being late and was given more attitude. I was again told they don't take reservations and they had held the table for an hour. We were 15 minutes late so not sure why it needed to be held for an hour and I had also told her the day before we were willing to wait if it wasn't ready when we got there. I questioned why I was told they would take my reservation if they don't accept reservations? She told me they did take my reservation but they don't usually take reservations. I suggested maybe they should have just told me they couldn't. She embarrassed me in front of my family and patrons around us. I was trying to apologize and own our delay but instead ended up angry and upset. Pretty sure we won't be back. We were paying customers that didn't keep them from any additional business. Was a crappy way to end a beautiful weekend...

She took it and put it in a pile of dishes and said nothing and did nothing more. I have ABSOLUTELY no reason to lie. Respectfully, it was not me who had an off night. You can buy the best beef in world, however, the Shepard's Pie I received, did not have the grease drained and there was clearly a layer of it at the bottom of the dish. My mistake now, that I can see, was not taking a picture of it, to plaster online. But I figured I didn't need to do that. Not everyone lies about how their food comes out. Sorry your cook had an off day and gave me a dish full of grease and your waitress took my plate and did nothing. However, NOW, I'M MORE SORRY, THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY I'M A LIAR INSTEAD OF JUST DOING THE RIGHT THINGS BY A CUSTOMER WHO WAS WRONGED.
If I could rate this less than 1 star, I would. I even told the waitress I couldn't eat anymore of the Shepherds Pie, because it had a FULL layer of grease on the bottom of the dish (& showed her, TO WHICH SHE AGREED!) and she took more than a 3/4 full dish to the side and DID NOTHING!!!!!
She didn't comp my meal, she didn't ask me if I wanted anything else. NOTH-THING!
I tried to mini golf with my son and friend after dinner, to which the sounds coming from my stomach, were like the sound of Satan trying to be birthed. Loudly and ever so risky letting me know that I was in VERY DEEP TROUBLE for eating that grease glazed mess. But I pressed on as far as I could. Until I felt Kathy's Kitchen knocking on my back door. Emergency style. Thank goodness no one was in the bathroom and Thankfully it was a one person bathroom. I felt like Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber (in the bathroom scene) stuck in that bathroom for what felt like 15 minutes. However, not gonna lie, that's where the Shepard's Pie grease came in handy! 🤦🏻♀️
It was a very painful experience that I had to pay for. A bit embarrassing as well, so, I might as well write about it. 🤷🏻♀️
Drain your beef grease!
Then tell your waitresses when someone sends back an ALMOST full plate of food and QUIETLY shows her there's an issue, it's her responsibility to fix that problem or go get...
Read moreNot a good first impression...called in a take out order around 9am on a Sunday. Arrived to pick up my order to find out they gave it to another customer...OK, mistakes happen-it's how you fix them that matters...half-hearted apology, no offer for a drink while I waited for them to "remake" my order, no priority on my order being "remade", no discount on the order...while I was standing there for 40 minutes, the gentleman who was mistakenly given my order came back with it...I really wished he hadn't given it to them until my "remade" order came out of the kitchen because I am 90% sure they just turned around and gave me that order. The stuffed cherry streusel was two pieces of French toast with cream cheese smeared across the top of one and cherries dumped on top of that...my wife had to reheat the home fries for 15 minutes in the air fryer as they were practically raw...the Garden Gate skillet had a school cafeteria scalloped potato and ham vibe to it-almost like it had been microwaved after being returned to them...the Cinnamon bun was decent...the menu looks very inviting but it seem too ambitious for them to pull off with the level of staff currently working there...it was busy, so they are not lacking for...
