The Ice Cream Stop — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

We’ve driven past this little place many times after grocery shopping and never paid much attention to it. We are new to the area and really wanted frozen yogurt, but there don’t seem to be any froyo options nearby. So we stopped here instead and I couldn’t have been happier with our decision.

Such a cute little shop with a counter and stools, little tables, a kids play area, and a train going around the perimeter of the store. Brought me right back to my days of working at a 50’s style diner.

They have a HUGE number of flavors to choose from. There’s something for everyone. Lots of fun cone options (pretzel cone anyone?!) and they have sundaes and banana splits in real glass dishes.

It is also very apparent that they are active within the community. From the photos covering the walls with customers and sponsored sports teams, notes from local classrooms, to the train cars that appear to be sponsored by local businesses.

Great little ice cream place...The inside is decorated with black-and-white pics of what appears to be hundreds of happy customers - nice schtick - gets you even more into the mood for ice cream.

Service is friendly, accommodating to endless requests for samples, and super efficient on getting your order completed quickly and we’ll made.

The ice cream itself? Creamy, thick, and as tasty as any other I’ve had, no complaints from either me or others in my party.

I do have one nit that I overlooked because of something I had noticed after I ordered my double-scoop in a cup. I was a bit taken aback they didn’t have a simple soft-serve offering. But then later I noticed they had Dole Whip! In two flavors - pineapple and strawberry. I have to go back now for a Dole Whip. Those are...

This place has s AWESOME!!! They have a small corner for toddlers to play, it’s all red which is stimulating, fun things on the walls to look at, but the best is a toy train that runs around a toy train track on interior perimeter of the shop. They kindly took initiative to turn it in on for my son when he showed interest.

The ice cream was delicious! And the price was great, too. And I used google maps to find a great park not too far down the road. And there’s s state park about 20 minutes away also.
