I had heard good things about this place so I was quite surprised when all I could find on the menu was breakfast and a la carte fried bar food. The place is quaint, but advertising placemats at each table ruin the feel a bit. We made the mistake of asking for water with lemon but instead of telling us they didn’t have any lemons, they gave us little packets of “true lemon”. I’d rather they forgot the “lemon”.
I had a burger with a cup of soup (a la carte as they don’t automatically come with sides). The burger was good as burgers go, I’ll give them that. The server forgot my soup but brought it when reminded and what they called “Italian Vegetable” was really chili with noodles, no vegetables. While the flavor was good, I wouldn’t call it a soup, let alone the soup advertised.
My companion ordered a butterfly shrimp basket that came with fries. She got popcorn shrimp. When we pointed out the error to the server, she simply stared at us with not even an apology. Nothing special about that frozen/fried food.
The pie looked delicious so we thought we’d end on a high note with a piece of cream pie, but the pie looked better than it tasted. The cream filling was over whipped and tasteless, what a bummer! For a small town cafe, it might not be that bad, but if you have a car and can get somewhere else, I would recommend...
Read moreAbsolutely incredible. All around perfect. Every staff member was friendly, everything was clean, and every aspect of the food was high quality. I can't recommend this place enough. The small town atmosphere was welcoming, especially for visitors from the cities. It seemed like a lot of people knew each other. Our waitress recommended french toast with bacon and she did not disappoint! The bacon was cooked perfectly, chewy but on the verge of being crispy which easily satisfies the long standing chewy vs crispy bacon lover debate. The french toast was also cooked perfectly and the melting butter combined with powdered sugar was mouth watering. Hash browns- also perfect, crispy golden brown and the added onions and cheese really set it off. The coffee came out extra hot, which I love and they offer half n half or french vanilla. Our waitress was working hard but seemed genuinely happy to help. To top our experience off- even using the bathroom on the way out was pleasant. It smelled like it was freshly cleaned and it was sparkling. Seriously an all around awesome experience. I imagine if I owned a restaurant I would strive to be like...
Read moreJill's Cafe is a very a beautifully remodeled restaurant (it's been a year or so since they did). We stopped for breakfast and they were about 1/2 filled but most had already had there food. Our waitress somewhere disappeared so the hostess ended up taking our order, after a good 15 minutes of waiting, then our waitress magically reappeared. Our food was wonderful!! Nice and hot. My one and only complaint on my food is.... NO RESTAURANT COOK seems to know how to make sunny side up eggs!! And the biggest complaint is their prices. I had eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. My husband had a ham and cheese omelette and toast. We both had milks..... $36 (tip included) If I had false teeth, they woulda popped out!! I overheard someone paying for a pie.... $23 I mean I know prices have drastically...
