Stopped for breakfast with my wife. Very cute vibe with a bright atmosphere. What’s unique are the various items that are offered for sale from local artisans.
Food is OK, not great. We each had veggie omelets which were OK. Maybe other items are better but the omelets were underwhelming — not fluffy and tasted a bit greasy from too much oil. Coffee was good. I had small yogurt parfait with some granola and a few berries as substitute for hash browns - a nice creative substitute.
Friendly service.
My only issue and the reason for lower rating is that when paying by credit card, the parfait charge was $2.60 instead of $1.25. It was explained that there was an up charge due to my using a credit card. I’m accustomed to and support establishments in covering the cost of credit cards (typically up to 4%) but more than double?? I brought this to the attention of the server and she confirmed the menu price and explained it away as the way it is programmed into the cash register. She said she would bring it up to management as the owner/manager wasn’t available.
In hindsight, I should have just paid cash but just the fact that an establishment would try to get away with a sneaky upcharge at a place that looks so nice just disappointed me greatly at the ethics of a small business. I love Richmond businesses but this is one that I won’t be...

Breakfast was meh...I really wouldn't want to eat here again. I ordered the Chicken omelette. You can see that it looked dry and it tasted the same, plus the chicken was really salty. This was supposed to come with salsa but I wasn't provided it and I ended up having to ask for it because there was no way i could've eaten the omelette without it. Tried my daughter's egg and cheese croissant and it was ok, better than my omelette at least.
Now let's talk about the coffee... My daughter ordered the Cafe Miel which is an espresso with honey and cinnamon-infused steam milk and it was tasty. I ordered the Maple Latte which was also delicious. We both agree we would go back...
Read moreIt is a lovely space. Love the environment the place is just awesome. Food, is delicious not going to lie but the price on that is way to high. I had 5 experience with the California chicken 3 bad 2 good .
BUT, I am happy and excited to say that California chicken is now back. Your unique sandwich cannot be compared with any other One out there. I can honestly say that this is probably the best coffee shop I’ve been to so far. The last coffee shop that was there was not so good but the new owners for Richmond café have turned it around. Their food is delicious ( i’m obsessed with the California chicken sandwich, (shh.. don’t tell anyone !) grill cheese is so delicious. I love the fact that it’s less than a minute a way from my home...
