Upon arriving at Roastology, there are several outdoor seating options, including patio tables with giant umbrellas and decorative chairs and a few wrought iron benches. On their website, Roastology invites you to bring your leashed pets to dine with you outside. There are couches, tables and chairs indoors, with free WiFi, waiting for you to get comfortable.
As soon as you enter, there’s a counter to place your order, with signs designating the stations to pick up either online orders or in-store orders. It’s very organized and streamlined, which draws me in. The menu is right above the counter, with pastries encased on the counter top for your viewing.
On this occasion, I ordered one of my favorite drinks, the iced mocha latte. The barista greeted me promptly, kindly, and calmly for such a busy place, which made me feel welcome and quite comfortable that everything was under control in this bustling coffee shop. What felt like a short time passed, and then my mocha popped up on the “In Store” orders counter.
This iced mocha dazzled me immediately with a burst of robust roasted bean flavor; it was sweet, but not too sweet, creamy and refreshingly cold. The chocolate was almost a dark chocolate, bitter, and decadent. Most importantly, the mocha flavor was imparted through and through and not once was I missing a single note of the flavor profile. This is what makes a solid iced mocha latte.
If you’d like to try some exclusive bagged coffees, look no further than Roastology, as they stock some exquisite blends, complete with tasting notes. Read moreOn our first trip here, we really liked the ambience inside. It’s a good set up with very nice staff hustling with a constant stream of customers at 8:30 am. The four tables with umbrellas in the converted parking lot were full but we were able to snag one while we waited about 10 minutes for food. The unsweetened green tea was green AF and watering it down didn’t really help so I think next time I’ll try the black. The coffee was really good. The breakfast sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar muffin was gigantic and good. The Ether was advertised as a grilled cheese sandwich which came with maybe a pound of delicious bacon cooked in various stages of doneness from rare to well done. We couldn’t see it at first but found the generous amount of delicious, unmelted Gouda in a warm mass under the tasty tomato and were able to spread it out and remove some bacon to make the sandwich an easily edible size. The bottom piece of bread seemed somewhat toasted, maybe on a panini press. We would have preferred it to be a little more grilled-cheesy and cohesive but it was definitely edible and guessed that it had so much bacon and cheese because we ordered it without egg. We brought home two half sandwiches to eat for lunch. We will be back and will probably give the Ether another shot, blood pressure and cholesterol be damned. (Pandemic note: it was open...
Read moreCoffee is good but no coffee is worth 20 minutes of my life. On a slow morning my wife was the only customer, she stood waiting in front of the counter for over 15 minutes with two staffers on the other side not doing much. I encouraged her to inquire about her beverage, They said " what's your name?" when she told them they said "they had lost the order" weren't they curious as to why she was standing there 15 minutes? The only customer right in front of them. None of these barista's would stand a chance in a NYC coffee shop. A NYC barista will crank out 10 beverages for every one of a Roastology counter person. Plain black coffee can be a wait here but if you order espresso, forget about getting to work on time, your in the same queue as huge food orders. I can't wait 20 minutes to pay $6.00 for an expresso. (with tip) If I was sitting down to eat sure, but come on, place some priority on beverage only orders. If you don't mind waiting because so many others are and it seems to be the thing to do, if you dig crowds and atmosphere more than efficiency , well you will...
