Starr Hill Beer Hall & Rooftop — Restaurant in Richmond

If flavorless is what you’re looking for this is the place for you. Having tried five different beers here I started wondering if this was like a new trend of light beer craft breweries, for soccer moms trying to stay social and fit, or maybe people who don’t like the taste of beer really. Either way nothing was really bad; just lacking in the flavor department. I will however say the Jomo hands down best beer they have, I don’t even have to try any more that was legitimately good. And that’s coming from someone who drinks dozens of different craft brews a week. They could get rid of probably 2/3rd of the inventory and just do the Jomo and a couple others then call it good and probably be just as successful. With that said the atmosphere is wonderfully craft brewery, don’t order the chips and probably wait to go until the covid nonsense is over sense they are ONLY doing table service but it takes 45 minutes to get anyone’s attention even when your 10 feet from the bar. Starr Hill is now at the top of our favorite brewery list when visiting Scotts Addition! If you are looking for a large variety of great beers, a spacious atmosphere and the nicest bartenders and servers then this is the place! The employees were so welcoming and went above and beyond to accommodate our Bachelorette party of 8. We arrived at a busy time on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately upon arrival and served just as fast! Our server, Brittney was busy helping other guest but managed to make our table feel like a priority especially when taking our order! We asked her to give us her personal recommendations on which beers to order based on each of our likings (which took a lot of patience considering we were a large group) and her choices were not a let down! We ordered immediately after being seated and received our drinks just as fast. “The Love” Wheat Beer was my favorite and that was a hard decision to make considering the different beers on the flights we received tasted amazing! The 4 star rating was really difficult for me. I wanted to rate it 5 star but something held me back. They have a stage with live entertainment that normally isn't so loud that you can't hold a conversation. They have a selection of beer from IPAs to stouts that are pretty good beers. But wife who regularly goes to microbreweries with me can't find a beer she likes. She can normally find a beer on one end of the spectrum or the other like a light fruity beer in the summer to the darkest of stouts in the winter time. But she can't seem to find a beer here that satisfies her pallet so I only go here once in a while. For instance the cherry stout she tried today was sweet initially but bitter aftertaste which she left for me to finish.
