This place was recommended to us after a memorial service. I ordered the carne asada with a cheese enchilada. My food was particularly spicy for just being carne asada and cheese enchilada. I am not a spicy person. I must say that there were no descriptions on the menu. I knew what this item was because I asked about it. But when I asked this is the only description we received. I was unable to finish it. Enchilada seemed really good when I kept scraping the top off. The carne asada was pre-cut into diced squares. I wasn't too thrilled about that. The beans were really good and because of the spiciness I just never got to my rice. The service was very friendly. The only drawback is that there's no clear direction if you order at the counter or at the table. They did come to the table and bring us menus. When we asked for the checks, the waitress stated she would be bringing them to us, but it seemed like she forgot. We finally had to go up to the counter and take care of it. The decor was ethnic, and the tables were all very clean.
Overall, it was a lovely experience, but it would not be my first choice. Respectfully, my suggestions would be to update the menu with a description of the meals and to State whether they're spicy or not. As for payment options it would be great if they would have some direction as to where they would like you to pay at. With these updates I am certain they can get...
Read moreOMG. This place is phenomenal! A townie recommended it. Don' t let its humble exterior and furnishings fool you. The reason that the parking lot is full, and there is a line waiting to place their order is the wonderful homemade food! It's either authentic Mexican cuisine, or gringo style, which ever you prefer.
First of all it is bright and clean inside. The wait staff is crazy-busy, but still sweet and kind and hard working without missing a beat.
The chips are fried in fresh (not yukky re-used) oil. The salsa is fresh. I suspect that they make it there. Taquitos were rolled and fried to order with chicken breast. The rice and beans were fresh, not canned....and the salsa bar offered a cilantro salsa, a fantastic roasted pepper fresh salsa with a smoky kick to it, thick ranch dressing which caters to your average American taste, and traditional marinated zanahorrias (yummy carrots) is that "escabeche" ? The salads that came with the meal actually had "stuff" in them: cucumber, carrots, red cabbage, red onion, croutons. I wish I had tried the soup, but this was plenty of fresh, abuela-made home cookin'. All they need now is a fresh tortilla station.
Yeah, it's a little mom and pop kind of place, but they are a quality class act all the way. We plan to visit Bernardino's every time we're in Ridgecrest from now on....
Read moreToday was my 1st & last time trying this place. My manger & GM went here for lunch & my GM took my card to order for me as well. 3 separate transactions in total. My total should have been $13 & change this included a chicken taco combo & a lg drink. I checked my alta one account to see over $25 in charges. I call immediately to find out what was going on. Long story short the girl on the other end accused my GM who mind you makes probably 3x as much as I do of lying & stealing the food. Because she was saying we ordered all kinds of other food which never happened & which was not in bag. When I then told my GM what she had just said, the girl got angry told me to come get my $10 & when I asked her for her name, she hung up on me. I called back and told her how rude & unprofessional it was of her to do so. I told her i wanted her name so I could onow with whom I spoke to incase someone else asked when I came in. Her response was why I'm not going to be here. So I asked her to take my name at least. When u then went in after work I was treated like a pos liar, trying to get free food. Mind you I don't EVEN EAT BEEF! So wouldn't want the extra food anyway. I only wanted the diffrence back that THEY charged. Their lack of customer service...
