My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time on 11/18/2022, in celebration of our 2nd wedding anniversary.
We arrived early but were seated promptly. The restaurant was incredibly clean, well appointed, and the enforced dress code is a nice atmosphere booster as well. Overall inside the restaurant was very nice
Our waiter, Matt, greeted us with menus and explained the specials. He came back for our drinks order and without prompt by us, offered us "complimentary" champagne as we booked the reservation online and in the notes said it was our anniversary.
The champagne was served and we ordered cocktails. Mine was fine but my wife ordered Irish whiskey and received a rye whiskey. The tastes are very distinctive and different. We asked for a remake and they obliged however the remake was also rye whiskey although we were assure it wasn't. It seemed as though they just brought the same drink back.
We ordered appetizer, entrees and sides. My wife enjoyed the beef carpaccio. We both ordered mid rear steaks(she had the 8 oz filet and I had the house ribeye.) While the steaks internal temp was right, the outsides of both were completely charred and not in a good way. All we could taste was burnt. I ordered the mushrooms and there was so much saffron that once I ate a mushroom, I couldn't taste the steak, burnt flavor or mushrooms, just a mouth full of saffron
I didnt care for the scalloped potatoes at all but my wife likes them. She also ate Brussels spouts and said they were "OK"
We skipped dessert and got the check. The "complimentary" champagne was on there for 20$. I pointed out that it was and the waiter said he would take it off before running my card. Returns the charge slip without the items removed so I guess I paid for free stuff I didn't want anyway.
All in all, if the server had gotten the drinks right I would have given him a 5* rating. Everything else he did was fantastic. Fast, attentive, knew the menu and specials and could make informed recommendations. But the overcharge is a lot for me
The food was really the killer for me. Steaks that are burnt black and taste like burnt char, not blackened steak for over $50 each. Sides that were cold and the selection was missing key staples like, oh, I don't know, a baked potato? It's a steakhouse without a baked potato. Maybe 1 appetizer for someone who doesn't need to lift their pinky to drink tea.
I won't be visiting this restaurant again and unless you like burnt meat, free stuff you pay for and a rather small selection of actual food people eat. I recommend you...
Read moreOn the positive side the restaurant is very eye appealing. The food is average or slightly above. My wife got the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. My rack of lamb was also cooked perfectly but 2 of the 6 bones i got has so much fat on them that there was very little meat. Unacceptable for a $75 rack. The service was very slow and the drinks were minimal pours. They offer no salads except a side salad which is just mixed greens with 1 piece of tomato and some onions. The dressings were good. After eating my salad the plates including my silverware was picked up and when the meal was delivered I was not offered replacements. Luckily my wife had kept hers so I used her extras. The steak knives appeared to be very flimsy and inexpensive. When the meal was brought to the table I asked the server for more mint jelly. After I ate 3 of the chops I still had none so I waited. He worked on 2 other tables and walked by several and finally brought it after the chops were cold. After we got through eating we waited 11 minutes before we were acknowledged to ask if we wanted dessert. During the meal (we were there 2 hours and folks that came in after us had been leaving for some time) our water was not refilled until I asked. My wife got hot tea and it was not refilled until we were through eating and I asked. The dessert was good as was the coffee. I had a scotch up (no ice) and when the check was presented I was charged an extra $2. That was never mentioned nor was it on the menu. When I got home I read on the Internet and found that they add an extra one half ounce for drinks with no ice and that is the charge. I have eaten in many upscale restaurant's all over the US, Canada, and Europe and never been charged that fee before. Needless to say, I will not be going back. I should have heeded other reviews that complained about...
Read moreMy family and friends came out to celebrate my mother’s birthday and was met with a very rude owner. We had a reservation for 12 but the party grew so we waited until they opened to call back and add more. When we called back to tell them that we needed a table for 20 we were put on hold but then they told us that it wouldn’t be a problem. When we arrived at the restaurant we were taken to a back private room which had our 2 ten tables and around 4 other 4 top tables. Since it was her birthday and no one else was in the room so we greeted each other and stood to take some pictures in our respected area of the room. After a while another table of 2 was sat and at that time most of us were seated but a few were still standing taking pictures with the birthday lady and everyone was speaking at room level. As I was ordering my food I hear the OWNER come in and tell us that we needed to sit down in a VERY RUDE tone I might add. She then went on to say that we needed to have more manners because they didn’t have to accommodate us because they don’t take parties over 12 which was NEVER stated over the phone call conversation. I personally felt attacked, discriminated against, and was just fully disgusted at how we were being to and treated. Never have I ever been humiliated like that in my life. We then got up and left because any human being with some respect for themselves would not allow themselves to be treated that way. As I walked out the owner looks at me with a smug smile on her face with no remorse for what she did or how she spoke to us. I just can’t believe we had such a joyous occasion ruined like that but some people weren’t raised with manners nor class so I’m leaving this complaint in here in hopes that she’ll learn...
