I pass by Michaels's every day , thought I 'd give it a whirl it was late n well , cooking was not on my list that night . I ordered a meatball sandwich n fries. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt since they've been around for a while. What a huge disappointment. The menu says the tomato sauce is home made so I was hopeful. Picked up my food from the kids behind the counter n a red flag went up . Not because of their age but because I knew they were in charge of making my meatball sandwich. Sooo, first thing the sandwich was huge which is not a bad thing if in fact it was worth eating. It wasn't. The roll was so soggy the meatballs fell out of it . I had to reconstruct it and that was difficult because the roll was falling apart . I asked for cheese , you don't always get what you want . The meatballs were editable, I ate 1 and as for the homemade sauce , it was soaked into the roll so I couldn't tell . Bottom line , if the kids had toasted the roll ( its a given for any hot sandwich) It would have made a huge difference and I wouldn't have felt cheated . Michael needs to pay a little more attention to who's running his establishment n the food they serve . I very well may have enjoyed my dinner if they had put a little more effort into making my meatball sandwich, instead I had to settle for a bowl of cereal and choke on the $17.00 . Reputation is a good thing , for small sandwich shops , except...
Read moreI am a lifelong resident of Delco and have an appreciation for the great food we have here in Southeast Pennsylvania, since my job requires me to travel around the country. I had grown weary of any of our local Delco cheesesteak spots. In fact, on those rare occasions when I would enjoy a cheesesteak I would travel to a well-known establishment about 20 miles away in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia. I finally came across a review introducing me to Michael’s hoagie shop. I have found something equal if not better than my distant establishment and will likely never return to the distant establishment! Thank you for saving my appreciation of Delco cheesesteaks, miles on my car, gas money, and providing one of the finest cheesesteak I...
Read moreTucked away at 1300 Jefferson Ave in Woodlyn, Mike's Sandwich Shop is a quaint, family-owned gem worth visiting, especially for those who prefer to support small businesses. Their cheesesteak sandwich is a standout — the bread holds up well, never getting soggy, while the steak is both flavorful and tender, perfectly complemented by American cheese and peppers. Though the fries didn't quite hit the mark, the star of the show is undoubtedly the steak sandwich. It’s a genuine escape from the usual tourist traps. Note that parking can be a bit tricky, so plan your visit with some extra time. I'm already looking forward to trying other items on the menu during my next visit, and I can see why Mike's has garnered such...
