Richard's Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in Rio Vista

First time visiting and what a treat! Grab a scoop of delicious ice cream (banana rocky road is highly recommended) and be prepared to feel like you've stepped back in time... Welcome to the beatiful lobby of an old hotel, complete with original mosaic floors, marble top front desk, huge chandeliers, even a piano. I've seen this building for decades, empty. It was truly a treat to go inside. I love the new life it's been given! There's plenty of seating (I read a comment that there wasn't any place to sit). There's so much opportunity here... What a great space! Weddings? Holiday, birthday or retirement party? Great Gatsby! I feel a theme party coming on! ALL THIS AND ICE CREAM?!?! I'M IN LOVE!

Horrible owners! They wrongfully terminated a black employee for exercising her employee rights and yelled at her causing her to run out of the store in distress. They have a staff of minors working for them who have also reported them yelling and insulting them on their weight. The old lady STACY has been seen multiple times getting into arguments and being rude with staff and customers. This place needs to be shut down, not only were they discriminatory against my minor cousin but have verbally attacked other kids as well. This is NOT how you run a business. Terrible . I would give it 0 stars if...

Richard’s Ice Cream is one of our favorite stops in Rio Vista! It’s a charming little shop with so much character and the friendliest staff. My kids absolutely love it here… Banana Rocky Road and Lemon Custard are the clear favorites in our house! The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the atmosphere feels like a sweet little step back in time. If you’re anywhere near Rio Vista, definitely make time for a treat...
