I stopped her for a late lunch today and was very pleased. The proprietor and his beautiful wife and staff are warm, friendly, and hospitable. It was service with a genuine welcome and sincere smile. It was almost time for the $10 lunch buffet to be over at 2:30, which concerned me some, but shouldn't have. Everything was delicious. The gyro meat, lamb and beef kabobs, kibbe, falafel, tzatziki were as good as any I've ever had, including at Chadra, very fresh and tasty, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Hummus was a little strong tasting for me, but still quite good. Rice pudding also good. An excellent value for a buffet of such variety and high quality for only 10 dollars. Their pita bread is commercial, not cooked in house, but also soft, fresh, and good. I did not get to try everything, but all I did try was excellent. Highly recommended if you are in the River Oaks area and want a tasty alternative. I am not there very often, but when I am I will stop here for lunch.
Update: 7/16/21This place is still outstanding. Warm and friendly service and such fresh and delicious fare. The hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, kebbe, and lamb for the gyros are as good as they can be, the pita is soft and warm, the rice is perfectly cooked. The dressing on the Nish salad was too salty for me, and the lively and fun Arabic music was playing a little too loudly for us. But it is a wonderful local restaurant, owned and run by a sweet and hospitable family, and certainly worth traveling to River Oaks for. Great food, great service, good prices. Highly recommended.
Update: 2/11/22: This is my third 5 star plus review for Nish. I took my wife there for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We got the large sampler and what a feast! Kibbe, falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, grape leaves, pita etc. All so fresh and tasty. For the first time we got drinks, a nutella shake and mango smoothie. The first is as decadent/delicious as it sounds--luscious--and the latter fresh and fruity. We had a lot to take home for another delicious meal, and it was all under $50. The service is so friendly and attentive and the kind owner/chef always comes out to check on you. This is just a great Fort Worth place! River Oaks is so blessed to have such a wonderful, friendly, local restaurant with such superior food and service.
Update 8-10-25: We have eaten here several times since my last update, but we ate here tonight to celebrate my older son's birthday, at his request, and this is still the best Mediterranean place in FW. The food is always so fresh and tasty, just outstanding. We usually get the large meza sampler, everything so good, but my son got Shawarma tonight as well, and my younger son the kebob wrap, and again, all delicious, I got the gyro platter at lunch at the end of July, and it was the best I've had in in FW. (Although that day their was no waitress, and the poor owner and cook had to do everything. The were hustling, but had a hard time keeping up and service was slow. However, the gyro was so good that the delay was worth it.) Their meats, baba ganoush and hummus, sauces and dressings, everything excellent and as good as it can be. My older son exclaimed, who is a a good cook himself and a foodie, "this is the best food...
Read moreWe first visited Nish in March / April 2023 and we have fallen in love with the restaurant. My husband is retired from the military and has had various cuisines throughout his travels, and he says " Nish is something he craves "....so we keep coming back.
The restaurant is always busy when we visit, whether it is walk-ins or takeout customers. We've been thoroughly impressed with the food, the cleanliness of the establishment, and the friendliness of the owner and his staff! We are always seated promptly, and the wait staff are attentive, warm, and always asking if the food is to our satisfaction or if we need anything. On our first visit, at the end of our meal, the owner visited our table, and asked about our experience, and his food, and we were so impressed! Now, each time we come in; he welcomes us back like family!!
My husband and I love the variety of the menu, the flavorful food, and the overall consistent quality of ingredients - their food never disappoints! I have dietary restrictions, and so I adore the fact I can find a lot of low carb or vegetarian choices on their menu, and not be limited or left to feel unsatisfied. We try to try something new each time we visit, but we have our favs.... We love the hummus, grilled halloumi cheese with tomatoes and olives, cucumber and yogurt salad, Nish salad, beef, or chicken kofta kabobs, and beef shawarma... The rice is perfection, the garlic sauce is addictive, and the pita is always soft and pillowy.... Everything is so fresh, well-seasoned and cooked to perfection...We have tried other Mediterranean restaurants in the area, but Nish is our favorite, hands down!!
Nish has a wonderful thing going, and it speaks to their food, and their care and attention to customers with warm, friendly service, and we will gladly keep giving them our business and telling...
Read moreGot take out here this afternoon. The falafel was very dense and a little greasy, but had good flavor. Ordered cucumber yougurt salad and a side of Tzatziki which are apparently one in the same here. That would have been nice to know when l ordered, but no one told me. The cucumber yougurt salad was just O.K, . ditto for the Chicken Kabob, which has decent flavor bit was tough. They packing job sucked AMF e etching leaked everywhere due to not being put in airtight containers. So thay needs fixing. Also falafel needs to not be put into a container along with wet ingredients and garnishes because it gets soggy later if you don't eat it immediately. So if you get takeout, check your containers and either have them repacked or get extra napkins and keep it level. The have good selection of Mexican Popsicles, Cream pops, and ice cream in cases in the dining oom. I did not see these listed on the menu. I bought a pecan Creme pop that was very good. Those are about. 3.00$ They also had a rice pudding cream pop, strawberry cream pop, and various everyday and some exotic fruit Popsicles that l will go back and try later. I know that it's not necessary supposed to be the specialty here, but l that cream pop was the best thing l tried here. So maybe they should focus more on selling those and advertising them? People would buy them if they knew they were there! If you want great falafel and tzatziki, go to Dimassi's Mediterranean buffet on Camp.Bowie. They also sell takeout buffet items by the pound, so l go there and get like 4 -6 of those babies with a couple of tzatziki containers along with a Rosewater, and I'm a happy camper. That usually comes to about 7-10 dollars depending on the weight at checkout. Totally worth it though. The best falafel lve tried, and I'm at least 50, so this ain't my...
