Highlander BBQ — Restaurant in Roan Mountain

I love Highlander BBQ they have the BEST BBQ around in Roan Mtn. And they have really affordable prices.. Such a friendly staff.. They treat you like they have known you for years when you walk thru the door until the time that you leave..

I usually order my food to go here, but have sometimes went in and dined..

I love their BBQ Chicken platter.. They give you the option of a large or small platter.. I always get the small because I can hardly finish all of it, let alone a large platter!! lol.. It comes with bbq chicken, an order of baked beans, coleslaw and a roll.. Really really great food!! You can choose between pork and chicken!

With the service, the price, and the food being so good, it overall is an awesome place to get some great BBQ! They do serve other food. But I really think they are making a name for themselves around here with their outstanding BBQ.. They also have ice-cream!

Highlander BBQ is always delicious. Always. We have never been disappointed. I get the pulled pork with beans and slaw and a side of fries, because the a fresh cut and fantastic. They have a few different sauces, although I always have the sweet sauce. And their pig wings? WOW! I would also add that I have to eat gluten free due to having Celiac. Their fries are done in a dedicated fryer and, if they aren't sure something is safe, they will tell you exactly that. Owners are super friendly, restaurant is always clean, service is fast, and food is always fantastic. What else could you ask for? Update on 3/5/22: Had the Highlander fries and pig wings tonight. The place was fantastic and the people couldnt possibly be more friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food which came out in a timely fashion. The only downside is the options....im always on the lookout for little mom and pop BBQ joints we found this place and gave it a shot. Pulling into the parking lot my mouth instantly started watering for ribs and brisket. Unfortunately all they offer is pulled pork and chicken....fortunately it is delicious pulled pork and chicken. However the limited selections for smoked meat is the only reason for the 4 star rating and its with a heavy heart that I take that fifth star but when you have burnt ends on the mind and its not there then you're left with disappointment.
