Great Wall — Restaurant in Roanoke Rapids

First time going there. No dining in. There are a couple of tables and chairs to sit at when you wait for your order. Employees all behind plexy border. After you give your order they call out your order and place it in a wooden box that you reach into on your side to get your meal. 0% contact. Food was very good. Menus jumps around abit and can be a little confusing. They have hot Chinese mustard if you like that but it's in small manufactured bags. I like it when it's made fresh by the establishment. It much better that way and then its put into a small clear container with a lid. Night and day between it and the pre made packages. Sorry but I love my hot Chinese mustard. Employees very nice and speak pretty good English. I recommend this place for a good meal....

The food was OK, I've tasted far better but also far worse. Highlights, the hot and sour soup was hot and the most flavourful thing. My pork lo mein was OK. What makes the difference is how the lo mein is cooked. Mine was extremely soft, almost mushy ( for me and pasta that's a deal breaker )! The flavor was good and the egg fu young gravy was good. Now the worst was the general tao's chicken. It was edible and hot BUT it had the appearance of orange chicken and similar qualities. It lacked the sweetness in the sauce and the spice was as much as a light black pepper sprinkling. The chicken breading was soggy and not a crispy fresh...

I love this place. There are many chinese food restaurants in our area, which was something that my husband and I were very surprised about given that this is a small town. We've set out on a mission to try each place at least once, and this is our favorite. The staff is really nice, and always remembers us. The honey chicken is my favorite. The only thing that I wish they would do is to post their menu online, especially their weekly specials, as it would make ordering much easier. I'm about to order...
