I am an avid Bahn Mi consumer. Having just moved to a new city in NC where there aren’t any restaurants that make Bahn Mi I knew what I wanted first thing when I got to Roanoke. The location was super easy to find for visitors and once I opened my door the brilliant smells of Pho broth was in the air. So right off the bat I knew Viet Sub was a winner.
My wife ordered the small beef Pho and I got a veggie Bahn Mi and a Thai tea.
The Bahn Mi was very carrot heavy and the flavor was a bit more nutty than the Bahn Mis I have had previously. But my tastebuds sorta got carried away and having spent almost 8 months with no Euro Asian fusion cuisine I basically blacked out and noticed the Sandwich was gone. LOL
My wife said her pho was very good and the broth was phenomenal.
The Thai tea was normal and I didn’t see a boba option but it quenched my thirst none the less.
All in all the Bahn Mi is next level but you may take your first bite and realize it’s your last. Because once it hits your taste buds you get a bit of an out of...
Read moreWe ordered a small pho, the beast banh mi, traditional banh mi, an egg roll, Thai tea, and iced viet coffee. Service was quick and the food was hot.
The small pho was actually pretty small from what I'm used to, so it was a good thing we got two banh mis.The egg roll was good. The beast banh mi had a lot of meat and the right amount of spicy mayo. I didn't realize that they put jalapenos into their banh mi because I thought they would ask if I wanted it to be spicy or not. The jalapenos are typically at either ends of the banh mi. Both the beast and tradition were good, depending on what you want to try. I would recommend the traditional if it is your first time trying banh mis just to get a feel for what it should be and then feel free to try new things!
The thai tea looked like it was made from powder and it was extremely sweet. It was good, but just too sweet for our liking. The viet coffee was pretty light in color and was definitely not as strong as the viet coffee from Pho Vietnam.

Read moreGreat food, traditional and non-Americanized. Service is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend the bahn mi and pho. (Especially as the weather cools down)
Not much seating room, but there is a small outdoor area for nice weather days. The establishment itself is a bit dated and could use some renovations but it surely doesn’t affect the taste of their delicious food. Maybe the best pho in town, and “The Beast” Banh Mi is a MUST.
We order take-out from here as well, everything is always fresh and well prepared. Prices are fair, best for a lunch time visit / early afternoon.
**Does get busy in the evenings. And around lunch time. Call and order ahead or be prepared to wait for take-out. They do well to keep up with a high demand in a small establishment.
Check hours. Sometimes not open on random days.
Cafe su da is a bit sweet for my taste, and they do pre-mix so you don’t have an option to reduce the condensed milk amount. A must try if you appreciate a...
