Ivey’s in Robertsdale knocks it out of the park. This is definitely a “Diamond in the Ruff” ! My wife and I decided to try the fine dining establishment in Robertsdale for my birthday dinner. This restaurant met and exceeded my expectations and the reviews I studied before giving it a try. We started with garden salads that were freshly made as well as homemade blue cheese dressing and ranch dressing. Dressings and salads were delicious. My wife had the Jack Daniel Pork Tenderloin. Juicy , Tender and flavorful , served with a sweet potato cake that was over the top ! I tried the Seafood Crepes with St Ivey sauce. These crepes were filled with crab, shrimp and crawfish in a rich cream sauce then topped with their signature St Ivey sauce which was a rich spicy seafood sauce. This dish was no joke , I could not make this dish any better even though I am a Saucier’ by trade. The portions were very generous, so make sure you come hungry! The prices were unbelievably reasonable, especially for the quantity and quality. Kristen, our server was polite, professional and most importantly welcoming! She anticipated our every need! The ambience was elegant yet comfortable and would be a great date night or romantic evening experience. Ever so often you find a hidden gem, and this place is one of those gems! We plan on celebrating our anniversary at this...
Read moreTwo of us, locals, had a $79 dinner last night. It was the most over-salted food we could ever remember. Especially the broccoli and mashed potatoes, but really everything was way over salted. Salt is something we can always add to our food but we cannot remove it. We ordered the Bayside flounder and stuffed porkchop. Much to our shock the fish was a breaded & fried fish dish (I swear the menu did not state that it was breaded & fried or we would not have ordered it) with some gooey topping. Disappointed. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and tender (but too salty). The oyster stew was wonderful, if a bit too salty. But here is the kicker...I think it must have been an unwashed item in my salad, as we shared everything except that, gave me terrible cramps and required 3 bathroom stops between Robertsdale and Gulf Shores.... McDonalds, Churches, & Cracker Barrel. Baby, I was sick. When I got home, and it was just in time too, I threw up. After another 30 min,. or so on the toilet I was much better. I took some paregoric, boy was I lucky to have some on hand, and I slept until 3 am when mild cramps returned for a bit. All in all, even tho the service and most of the food tasted good (except too salty), I will not be eager to return. Please Ivey's staff, wash those salad...
Read moreWow! Wow! Wow! We were down from Birmingham visiting my grandfather in Gulf Shores and he recommended we go out for dinner one night. We had made reservations but two people canceled last minute. The staff didn’t make a big deal of it and gave us the same table as soon as we walked in. Our service was so accommodating and they had water and bread chips already set up on the table for us to be seated. The bread chips were delicious. Going to Ivey’s you don’t have to settle on the food to get good service, here they have both. At our table we ordered the seafood crepes, the shrimp and grit cakes, the catfish with a shrimp and crab sauce, and the shrimp diane. All came with a house salad with your choice of dressing. Their homemade dressings are ranch, 1000 island, and blue cheese, which were all wonderful! I tasted every entree we ordered except the shrimp Diane and you cannot go wrong with any of the other three. The dish that really stood out to all of us was the shrimp and grit cakes, which our server informed us they had won an award for recently. This restaurant really is the whole package: adorable location, classy ambiance, amazing service, generous portions, extensive wine menu, and affordable pricing. Don’t skip this place even if you’re just driving through...
